I bought a dual port 1995 EJ22 with 156k on it and I would like to take the cylinder heads off and clean up the combustion chamber and such. I would like to replace the head gaskets since I will have some of the engine torn apart and I'm not sure where to get a set of good quality. Could someone suggest what kind(s) I should look at? And what should I take care of/replace since I will have the heads off? I am on a limited budget and have limited tools but I would like to do the best I can with what I have to make my new engine run just a little bit better than before. Thank you!

Are you doing anything other than a stock rebuild? If not, go OEM. Cometic also makes good aftermarket ones, from what I hear.

I'd redo all the gaskets & seals while you're in there, too.

For now I'd like to rebuild it stock but maybe in the fall or next year I'd like to add a VF11 as a small pressure turbo, maybe 3-4psi, only to help with fuel economy. Eventually I'd like to do a 2.2 block with 2.5 head hybrid but that might not be for quite some time, I just want to get the motor running with no problems as of this moment =]
