I just used the search feature and i think i found my answer on this link:
viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23111&hilit=1995+legacy+headlight+swap (http://www.sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23111&hilit=1995+legacy+headlight+swap)
But im not sure about the wiring,it looks like 1995 - 1997 headlights will all bolt up (including newer years too) BUT! the wiring will only plug in and not need splicing for new connections for the 1995 -1997,am i correct? Thanks for your help......

Why do you need to replace them? If it's just yellowing or fogginess, that can be dealt with inexpensively.

Well, they are pretty bad and knowing how many salvage yards i have access too around me with alot of diiferent Subaru models and years, to me it seems easier to just replace them with an updated or better pair then the shot 1995's i have now,I just got a 1998 Legacy Gt hood today for $50 and the dude said he would sell me the two piece headlight assembly out of a newer wagon for $20,thats cheaper then buying the Meguires and doing the power ball restore the way i see it...Im just not sure on what will work,i dont want to mess with wires, just bolts and nuts i can handle, lol

The 2 piece headlights really don't have any better output.
Too bad you don't live near me - I'd do it for you for cheap...

Thanks for the offer,so the 95 - 97 are the ones that will plug right in without issues correct?

Yes, any headlight that is a single piece headlight with the diffused housing (you can't see the bulb from the outside of it) like this will:

Not like the 2 piece ones:

i personally think the one pieces look better. You could get some JDM projectors as well but then you have to splice in the wiring.

Thanks,i do like the look of the one piece better then the newer split look,im still going to take your advice on the resurfacing of the original headlights and see what detail shop has a better price to clean them up,thanks for all your help...

If you want to try doing it yourself, check out this thread on AGO.

People have been getting great results with this method, and it lasts. I need to do mine again, and I'll probably use urethane this time. The Opti-coat I used last time didn't stick very well for some reason.

Nobody ever seems to say where they get this stuff...
edit: found it. Nobody mentions that its just Minwax:

Yep, it's at your local hardware store. Make sure it's clear gloss and not satin or semi-satin. You don't want the spray stuff either, since you have to mix the urethane with mineral spirits and brush on with one of those blue shop towels.

Right. I just linked the first two Amazon results. Important bits bolded in you post. The guy recommends using a shop rag, how do you think a foam paintbrush would do?

From what I've read, those foam brushes can leave bubbles. Sounds like the rag is the way to go.
Once I have some free time I will post a DIY thread on here. That way nobody has to dig through that 30975345 page thread on AGO

I just wanted to let you know that i took your advice and found a local detailer and he buffed out my lights for $25 night and day differance,it took him 20 mins with an air tool some cream in a squirt bottle and a 2" foam pad,now i can see beyond 4' in front of me. Best $25 ever spent. While i was there i asked him how much to black out my chrome along the door trim, repaint my three wiper arms and black out the chrome around the front grill,$80 Sweeet! deal huh....
