Hey guys, just ordered KYB Gr-2's and Eibach Pro's and besides installing a short ram intake from CosmoRacing ($65, I"ll post pics soon) I have ZERO car mechanics experience.
I've got some help from some partially knowledgeable(sp) friends, but was wondering if anyone could give me some hints/tips. I've got the tools, but was hoping for some sweet, sweet wisdom from some of you guys who've got the install experience.

also: anyone know of a step-by-step write up anywhere? I haven't checked scoobymods.com or nasioc.com but I will....thanks

Ryan (pwise2326) did STi pinks on his Legacy himself, I don't remember if he wrote anything up, but he could give you some good advice.

heres a tip. DONT DO IT YOURSELF! it will take you forever. and you'll probably kill your self trying to compress your springs without a spring compressor. find some one to do it for you for $100. it'll be done in 30 min.

rent a spring compressor. If you have access to air tools, have them handy. On the front struts, mark the orientation of the top bolt that connects the hub to the strut; it controls your camber and toe, to a lesser extent. On sedans, you have to remove the back seat to reach the topmounts in the back. To tighten the topnuts, use some vice grips that have been locked around a socket and use the hole that the socket wrench goes in to stick an allen wrench in to keep the strut from rotating.
Your first strut will take an hour and a half, the last one will take 25 minutes.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.....I've read mixed reviews about whether or not a spring compressor is really necessary, but since I can rent one for pretty damn cheap, I might as well get one....
I've searched around on Nasioc.com and found this thread which looks really helpful and should provide some guidance for anyone else wanting to do this.

It's a step by step install on the guy's wrx, from what I've read, this procedure should be the same for our Legacy's. It's a good write up with pics. It's what I"ll be using as guidance....
