Rule of thumb is to use the H/G for the Heads you choose. OEM, Cometic, etc..

I've always heard to use the HG from the block, not the heads. I'm super confused now haha.

One more thing to add. Someone mentioned I would need a phase 1 intake manifold as well. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes this is true since the flanges are different. You will have to match the IM to the heads you choose.. I believe you can run EJ20G or H IM ... There are a few threads on SLI that talk about this.. I believe Lord Flashheart has this documented in his build thread.

Can you quickly post your entire setup from short block / long block / ecu / harness / IM.. it helps us understand the full picture

All I really know is that it's a Phase 2 EJ22 in a 2000 OBS. The heads I purchased are from a 91 Legacy.

The car wont be here till next week, so I have plenty of time to work on this. I know it can be done, but since it's unfamiliar territory I'd like to make sure I have my ducks in a row before I dive in to it. Once I get all the info needed I'll update the OP. Thanks chuck!

i made a mistake about the EJ20/H/G info.. I was thinking EJ25D heads..

I have little info on the pre-95 EJ22's

Same here, that's where my confusion came from. Physically it will fit with the Phase 1 intake manifold but the electronics are too different.
