If you drive your car everyday, the last thing you want is camber. You will be eating tires like a fat kid eats ice cream!

Camber isn't the tire killer people make it out to be... it's toe that eats rubber like a fat kid in a cake store. You'll be fine with a bit of negative camber as long as you correct the toe.

I look at it from the side of a drifter... The tires on the Silvia were toast in short time when going sideways... So thats the way I look at it... The tires on my snowflakes have camber wear from just the 5 months I drove lowered also...

I'm not saying the insides won't wear faster with camber. I'm saying tire life is pretty tolerable as long as it's just camber wear, and you can flip the tires to get more life out of them.

I'd kill a pair of rear tires on my old lowered Cressida in 3 months before I corrected the toe. As in 3-4000 miles, tops...pretty crazy. After correcting toe, this set will probably do 10-15k with a flip in there.

lowered Cressida

Pics of said Cressida?

Agree on the camber wear. Rather deal with camber than toe wear.

Most recent one I have. I had so many people knocking on my door asking if I'd sell it, but I could tell they'd just slide it into a wall/tree/divider...and kids have killed enough of these cars already. Wound up selling it to my buddy down the road with a RX-4 wagon. Not scraping mudflaps like some x chassis guys do, but it tucks tire instead of looking like a Tundra.

I'd be scraping mudflaps if i had that lol. Would be too afraid to drift it though.

Took a subie+cressie pic too. Toyota is my uncles.

Yeah, I didn't have funds to build the car how I wanted... and felt terrible driving it year round since it had pretty much zero rust. JZ or UZ + R154 + coilovers would have been heaven... but hey, this way I get to do all of that on someone else's budget! After his gold RX-4 wagon is done, of course...

You could probably lower it. Just not that much. Have you thought about using GT struts and springs?

Ive thought about similar stuff but now with college, the car doesnt have any available downtime.......

Swapping struts shouldn't take more than a few hours. Do it on Thanksgiving or winter break. Then get an alignment of course.

The springs are the same. between the OB's and the GT's the struts are the only difference. but you may run into a problem in the rear of you tire not clearing the spring perch with bigger wheels. the rear struts are 1 3/4" difference under the spring seat and the fronts are 1 1/2" under the spring seat. trust me I measured it all out when I swapped the opposite way.

I will post pics on this thread when mine is Stanced VIP.

Stance on these Subies is easiest when....

1. Coilovers - Probably about a 1-2" smaller suspension diameter all around gained for wheel and tire room!
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2012/09/12696d1196957835merryxmasmemeganracingco-1.jpg

2. Running smaller disc brakes and not going for monster discs and calipers is going to help for low offset wheel possibilities. I would love to run 05+ GT brakes front and rear but....probably just going to go with 2000-2004 Legacy instead. Or, even keep drums....bwhahah! Cant believe I typed that. Oh boy, dont keep drums. :(

3. Roll and Pull on the fenders. Rear - Roll and Gently pull to maintain the factory body line. Front - Custom mod the inner fender liner and roll the sheet metal a bit too where factory liner connections are not needed.

4. Spacers and extended lug studs would be the last resort to make a wheel and tire package fit.

Sooo many options but, it's gotta be just right to work! TMI on this post? Whatever... :smt023
