'98 gt wagon from Boulder CO

Here's my very first car. I turn 16 in October so i have time to do some work to it! It is a 1998 Legacy GT with 140,000 original miles. Im in the process of installing a kartboy short shift and cobb knob. I plan to tint the windows but don't know what percent, any suggestions? Next I plan to convert the gauge cluster to leds and just clean it up. I have a limited budget but if you have any suggestions for necessary add-ons please let me know Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!!! Your car looks very clean and a great starter car.

And tint is a really good thing, but just make sure you dont get it so dark you attract the attention of the law. Id say 35%-20% is a good range to tint within

I saw your car on Legacygt.com. I suggest an aftermarket headunit and speakers. I just got this:http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDX40/JVC-KD-X40.html?tp=5684. It does not have a cd player but has a USB input and AUX input and is AM/FM.

Also, an Outback rear sway will tighten up the back end to make the car handle better and can be found pretty cheap.

yeah i already have an aftermarket sony head unit that plays cd, aux, or usb. i also have upgraded speakers in all 4 doors. i am trying to decide if i want subs or not. i don't really want to sacrifice space in the back. I am also looking into into putting a rear sway in, but one mod at a time.

did you have to install an aftermarket amp for the subs or were you able to just connect to the head unit?

get a really good buff/wax done! Blacks the worst color ever for taking care of lol, and it only looks good when its top notch!
would also suggest 35%+ at darkest for a newer driver. anything below that just gets to hard to see out of, especially at night. and thats the last thing you need just starting off. car looks good though! good luck with it

A quick easy mod (took me about 35 minutes) is HID Headlights. HUGE difference. I'm 16 and my 1997 Legacy Wagon is my first car and I get the whole limited budget thing...but seriously the best money I have spent on the car right there. You could change from 30,000k and it probably wouldn't effect the brightness much, I just really liked the look it gave my car too. If you do get a sub remember that bigger isn't always better. You can get just as much out of a 10" that is very efficient as you can out of most 15" subs.

Looks like you got a clean ride! I scored mine for a really low price from my grandma who was the second owner! Only 98,000 miles when I bought in January! Pushing 116,000 now!
