Unlike my '91, my 97 wagon does not have an ID plate on the rear diff. I want to buy one of those JDM LSD's on Ebay as their a good price. How would I know what rear ratio I have ?
BTW, what's the going price for an LSD these days ?

Most owner's manuals have final drives listed in them in the back.

make sure the ebay seller is reputable and that the diff you're looking at is really a LSD

yea, look in your owners manual, and make sure theres some kind of guarantee that it is what they say it is, and your not gonna pay lots for a regular ass diff just because its from japan

I've gone through the manual and there's no mention of gear ratios unfortunately. Here's a list of the LSD parts they had

I would say thats a reputable seller. They have so much stuff on ebay, and I haven't seen much negative feedback around about them, I'm refering to JHot too.
Peace,
Kyle

Is it really that cheap to get a LSD in the rear? Is it a simple bolt up? (I know it wont be 'simple' but nothing else like changing 20 parts needed)

:? i'd still be careful with that seller. i've seen them list some real idiotic stuff in the past...not saying that they're still trying to rip people off, but just be careful

Getting the new diff back up into place is a real bitch. Ya gotta have popeye-arms.

Hmmm...all those auctions were won by the same person, wonder how soon they'll be on eBay again ;)

to answer the original question: have someone hold one of the rear wheels while you rotate the other rear wheel 10 times and count exactly how many times the driveshaft has turned, then multiply that by 2 and divide by 10, that should give you the correct ratio.

PS. that shop wants a small fortune to send the tranny. $250 to NY zip
Might as well just buy an RS LSD locally and I'll know it works.

Yeah, I asked them about one of the VLSDs a while ago, the woman I spoke to was pretty unhelpful and shipping was $$$
