Wondering what the difference between say a regular 1997 legacy L ecu, and the 1997 legacy gt ecu. Wondering this because I bought my legacy gt and it has the original ecu but the motor has been swapped to a phase 1 2.2L. Any info is greatly appreciated. Seems like a lot of people want the legacy GT ecu. I don't want to change it because here in CT your car will fail emissions if you don't have the original ecu in the car. :smt017

Sorry for the side bar here, but is it the same story with the 3rd generation as well?

Sort of yes / no.
Fuel Trim stays the say I believe since Brighton/L/GT use the same EJ251 SOHC motor however certain years switched from MAP to MAF.. I believe MY03 so that would drasticly change the ECU.
Rev Limited does change (IIRC) on L to GT.
The H6's use different ECU's ..
