Ok so my car didn't come with cruise control

Picked up the:
vacuum lines
pump
actuator
cruise control ecu
controls
cruise button

Installed everything. The cruise light comes on (button that you push to activate cruise) but my lever to activate cruise doesn't seem to do anything. Bad pump? Actuator? However the cruise sign doesn't come on the dash (if there is one)

Do you hear a click when you try to "set" cruise? If not, the relay isn't getting power.

I hear the click. I'm going to start probing more spots for voltages. I could have a bad vacuum pump. This cruise control was pulled from a car in the salvage yard. Everything seemed fine.

so switches are on the list

brake switch
clutch switch
neutral switch

It's the NEUTRAL POSITION SAFETY SWITCH. This was solved years ago. It's a sensor on the top of the transmission. Cheap part, but a pain in the ass to replace. It's technically doable with the tranny in the car, but most people wait and do the fix while doing a clutch.

Symptoms include: inability to engage cruise or engaging cruise and it shuts off for no reason. Mine was progressive: it started with random cruise disengagement, occurring a couple times a year. It got more and more frequent until I finally couldn't engage the cruise control at all. Replaced the sensor and all was well.

FYI, this plagued the 04 STi almost exclusively.

I know my switch on the steering wheel went bad, swapped it out, and now it works again.

Well changed out the main cruise switch with one that came from a working vehicle. Didn't change the issue.

Mine never engages so i don't believe it is a clutch or brake switch.

Neutral switch, ecu, actuator, vacuum pump are the next things.

Well after reading up here http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2153889
I was able to find out what I was missing. Turns out the brake switch on a non cruise car is different. Along with the clutch switch. Going to go to the junk yard and pull the 2 switches I need. Cross yer fingers!

I also had an issue with the CC ECU, in that I accidentally installed an automatic one on my 5mt car. Heard the click, light on the button came on, but no CC. Worked instantly when I switched for a manual CC ecu.

Thank you for the heads up on that. I will check the car I got the ecu off of at the junkyard. I'm going to grab the brake switch while i'm "looking" for a fog switch hehe. Those brake switches are 50 bucks a pop FYI :(
