Bit older post, not sure if your problem was resolved. These are likely to be a major pain to fit on your OB. I have a '97 Legacy that I just barely managed to squeeze 17" rims that are 7.5" wide on 225 tires. I had to roll the fenders and it was a huge pain to make it work. Now it was worth it, and since you do have an Outback 18's may fit but an 18 that is 8 inches wide, that would be VERY close. Any weight (even just a person) or slight turn, bump ect. would be death to your rear tires.

It'll fit. You're going to need stiff coilovers, a good bit of camber, and a roll/pull on your fenders though.
