I have access to buy an SVX. I am going to get more info and see if before the end of the week. Pretty sure it has engine issues though. However, the body is great (from what I have been told).

Think i should jump on it? :P

thanks,

my inlaws give me 150 bucks a week to walk their dogs and that just gets eaten up by rent, utilities, gas, food, and my son.

Not IMO... I do not consider $11/hr "high pay" for my job... I could easily be making $30,000/yr to start plus benefits at a new job if I decide to use my college degree

I absolutely fell in love with the SVX the first time I saw one. Although they are so rare around here, I gave up long ago on finding one. We'll see how this one is.

i breaks my heart every time i drive past this one garage on RT19. there's an SVX spray painted blue and white (wheels painted too) with VIAGRA painted really big on the hood. it also has numbers and "sponsor" stickers on it. it must have been a racer, but now it's a parter.

Not to disapoint anyone, but my friend almost converted to Subaru because of me. He found a SVX then I found this thread.

I love the SVX very much, but a lot of people seem to complain. Careful if you are budget minded.

I have heard from some SVX owners that they can be major money pits, but that just might be THEIR experiences, and not others. I personally like them.

yeah. you've really gotta love the car and love fixing cars as a hobby for an svx to be worth it.

it's also really hard to find one with any less than 150k miles on it.

Is it true parts are becoming alot harder to come by?

I always thought they are an interesting car, but I never understood the choice to only offer them in automatic.

yeah, only autos is a major dissapointment. and yes, of course parts are getting harder to come by. they're up to 15 years old and havn't been made in 10

I was unable to contact the owner today :? So hopefully tomorrow he will answer his phone :P

If the thing looks like a POS, I will pass. It would make a nice project, but its not worth several thousand dollars to me (meaning spending all that to fix it)

It's an automatic for the same reason the H6 subarus are autos: They're luxury class vehicles (obviously the SVX failed at that, it didn't make it very long) and people are looking for automatics. The SVX is also heavy, not really to be considered a "sporty car" even though it's way cool to folks like us.

again I was unable to get in touch with the owner... so screw it. I have been told by so many poeple that these are money pits too. So I have reverted back to my previous mission. I am looking for a 98-99 2.5 RS.

see this thread (http://www.sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?t=2805)

*back from the dead*

I have not given up on owning an SVX... I found a 1992 with 155k on it for $3000 OBO. I am thinking of going to see it when I am on vacation the week of the 20th. Owner claims no exterior rust and the interior is great for being leather and a MY92. Would be getting a paint job anyways if I buy it since it is maroon :-?

I guess I'll have to whore the SVX forums for a day or two to learn some about the 92's.

due to gearing and weight, they accellerate like crap, but they go FAST on the highway. I've read speeds of 160mph plus. good luck.

92-93 SVX LSL's were capable of 155mph, and 94-97 SVX's were capble of 136 mph (electronically limited).

They turn heads though, especially with a few exterior mods. Not to mention an unrestrictive exhaust

I wouldn't mind having one to bum around in... Could make a nice winter, DD car.

i wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole. I've got a friend that has had like 7.

You won't find many knowlegable folks on the svx forums, id look to nasioc or a wrx forum for svx info. seriously.

i have 2 rubbermaid trash bins, i consider them equal in value to the svx.

At least rubbermaid makes quality trash cans...

If SVX's werent such money pits, and parts were easier to find, I wouldnt mind them soo much.

So then I assume you would appreciate my second choice for another car... That being a white bugeye WRX. Would be going for the "panda" look. black wheels, black projector headlights, tint, etc.

greatly. white rex with black wheels is my favorite! followed by black/black wheels. a lot better then a subaru SUX
