Ok so I got my Gates kit in today and everything seemed to be going fine until I went to put the belt itself on. The white line lines up fine on the crankshaft and on the passenger side pulley, but on the drivers side pulley the line does not match up perfect so Im sitting here scratching my head saying what the F. I snapped some pics so you would know what I mean. I had the direction of the belt (the arrow) pointing toward the drivers side. I know it's the right kit, its the same size belt that came off it.

This one lines up fine

TIMING BELT FOUGHT AND TIMING BELT LOST! Brett 1 car 0. The regular way of putting all the idler pulleys on wasnt working, usually you install the bottom smooth pulley last but not this time. I actually had to follow the Gates instructions, imagine that.

LOL... I was gonna say, it pretty cut and dry with the Gates belts. As long as they are lined up and you have the belt going the right way, your set.

It does tame a little time to really figure out the right method to do it, but it's not really that bad.

Yeah I got it all together, Im pretty sure the timing is fine. I know I need new plugs and I have a valve making noise, but thats because it has 5w30 in it. I wound up putting it over one tooth to the left so it would line up lol after trying to find a way to compress that tensioner over and over until it seemed to run better. Luckily its an old enough motor so its non interference and one tooth off just means it will run crappier at least I think.
