View Full Version : How clean is the inside of your car?

Alright guys, I know this one will be all over the board, but I want to know how well you take care of your cars.
It's known in my family that my Apt looks like a nuke went off. Papers all over, car part in my kitchen and living room, and clean laundry on my bed... haha... No moldy food in the fridge or anything else smelly. I'm not that bad, just a little disorganized.
However, my car(s) are all clean! I mean when I think they are dirty, I can fill a plastic bag from the super market, but thats it. I spend a lot of time in my car so I keep it clean.
So how is your car on average on a scale of 1-10?
1, super dirt as hell, or a 10 meaning there might be a gum wrapper on the floor for a day or two?
I put myself at 8-9 most of the time. I dont mind food in my car, but if something spills, it gets cleaned ASAP! Most people think I'm anal about it being clean, but my dash can get dusty, but not for long. Trash drives me nuts so it gets tossed every few days in there is any.
This is normal for the inside of my car...

And no joke, this is normal for my work truck.

Here's a pic of my interior at the beginning of the year. I'll post a pic of it now at some point since I now have a WRX 6Disc raido in my car and I also put my stock mirror back on. but ether way it's always this clean I never let it get dirty, I even make sure my trunk is clean.

At most I might have like a receipt or 2 on the floor in my car so there is no junk but I only vacuum it out about once a month and I dust it less than that even though it often bugs me lol.

The only thing I wish our cars had was at least one cup holder on the center console. I hate the pull out one because i hate the condensation of drinks dripping down.

My BD never gets dirty so that's a 9'er all the time. My BH is day to day, I would like it to be a 9 but our shop has a large gravel parking lot so it usually gets cleaned once a week, would be a 5-8 depending on the day.

Anal retentive all the way. Want a cigarette? Can of soda? Food? That's all fine...once I pull over and you get the hell out of my car! :smt029
It's actually filthy at the moment, due to several scrap yard runs.
I'll be cleaning it up to my usual standard this afternoon.

Car is cleaned and vacuumed 2-3 times a week, due to a shedding husky and a gravel driveway. Once a week it gets the full Q-tip treatment where I get in the vents, all the crevices and tight areas, along with dressing the dash and panels. Glass is cleaned inside and out every time.

I used to be a lot better about my cars - but then life happened and we had a baby, and then the ensuing mess of toys and crumbs hits. The car is usually the last thing on my list of "to do" items these days.
I still vac and dust the interiors more than the exterior, and I have a box for all the toys to go into.

Mine isn't that bad. I like to keep it clean. The only things I haven't cleaned inside recently are the dash and the cargo mat. But now I want to go clean that. I know I will be doing the windows tonight.

When I had my Impreza before going back to Japan, once a month I would spend a weekend taking the wheels, fenders and bumpers off the car and consoles/seats out so I could clean each piece and behind and all the way to the chassis. I wanted it showroom quality all the time.
I don't do that anymore, but I still don't allow food/drink or animals in the car except for ultra rare occasions.
The wife's car (Legacy H6) is easily cleanable, but she has no such rules. She thinks the rules are crazy. "Why have a cup holder if you can't have cups?"
She just doesn't understand.
The S401 is almost never used, so it always looks new.

my BD's were always so clean, the Carpet was cleaned right after the pic but I cant find the after pic :(
i'd say they were both 10's, seriously in the "maybe a gum wrapper on the floor for less than 24hrs..."
now I havent taken any interior pics of the new wagon but its a new car... so I'm keeping it A+++ super 10
I'll take a pic tmw morning if I remember. I never have anything left on a seat or on the floor, My wife however is quite messy so Its a fun battle
I have alot of time at work to just keep my car as clean as it can be :)

Knowing you and all the cars, I can see that... Your wife cracks me up! She will have another cup holder soon too! hahaha!!!!

I was wondering about that! I have seen cars that are #1's and those are just nasty! Brad had one of those he got from some lady and it still smells like a cigaret factory!

Where's the button for people with mud on their door cards, floor bords and ceiling? I can't seem to find it...

Ya being a mechanic at a little independent shop, one of the cheaper ones no less, I have been in some #1's and its not a good thing. Even working at a dealership now there are some pretty bad vehicles, some people can totally destroy even a 2 or 3 year old vehicle. I could never stand that in a vehicle I owned.

That would be about a #5 if the rest was not so bad... Thats how my Crawler was... Mud splats on the inside of the back window, but the inside was detailed! haha

I'm a 5 :( I like to keep my car clean but it's hard when I work 7 days a week. When I move up to college though, and my schedule isn't as hectic, its staying show ready. Inside and outside.

8-9. I keep the car pretty clean all the time and have a garbage can behind the passenger seat, so there's never any debris floating around. I vaccum it as much as possible. The unfortunate part is that I inherited the car with some stains on the carpet and badly worn floormats.
For whatever reason the flash makes the carpeting look way worse than it actually is:

I chose 5, because that's how it usually is. Random things in the cargo area. Dusty, some junk mail on the rear floor bored an such
7/8 if I dust and vacuum. Once a month ( including trunk) doesn't stay clean long. Haha
10 if I remove everything, seriously detail every nook an cranny, but that happens maybe 3-4 times a year.

I try to keep my '94 wagon around the 7-8 area, interior has been really clean for its age since I got the car. The reason I say its in the 7-8 area is I do daily drive the car and I don't dust the dash often or vaccum the carpet, I am anal about food and drinks cause the interior is in very good shape. It could easily be almost a ten but I only put that effort into it before shows. My '93 sedan is a bit different, right around 5-6. I take that car out in the dirt and filth often and the carpet was pretty gross from the previous owners poor cleaning habits. I took the carpet out and pressure washed it and it doesn't look too bad now, it could pass as a 8 but I know its not that great.
At the moment, I'm around a 5. I'll chuck a used peice of paper on the floor behind me, there'll occasionally be a used big gulp cup on the passenger floor, as I don't have cup holders right now (got the car with it broken).
But as of tomorrow, I'm starting my delivery job with Domino's, and they want it to look as clean as possible, so... I'mma try to keep it more like a 7 or 8.Probably fail, but... I figure it'll take me 5 minutes to clean out, tops, right now. I'll shoot for a 30-90 second cleanout in the future.

my interior used to be between the 7 and 8......then i became a delivery driver chucking endless delivery slips in the back (and a lingering scent of pizza).......and then i got a job that required commuting 50 miles each way and the empty bottles, cans, newspapers, magazines and spare uniform bits live in the back seat footwell (front seat must remain open or i go nuts)......its currently about a 4 :(
