So we did not get a saab and have been in a Chrysler 200 for a rental. so the car that we are looking at is a
2003 H6 LL Bean outback wagon with 90k miles on it and lived in central Oregon its whole life so no rust.
So my question is what should we look for on this car.

Make sure the automatic transmission is shifting properly and promptly and obviously ask for any service records on it. At 90,000 miles hopefully the fluid has been changed at least once or twice. That much power and a 4EAT can start to break down if it isn't properly serviced.

As for H6 specific issues, I'm not an expert on the EZ30.

Timing chain baby! It's a wonderful thing. Like Mark said, drive it and feel the trans out. Listen for any weird pinging at start up as some people put cheap gas in these engines. Just a thought.

Take a look at Keltik's sweet tear down thread if you already haven't.

the h6 needed work and they would not budge on the price so we did not get it.

That's good. The EZ30 is a pile of shit engine. I Peraonally hate it.. if you do get one, I would say replace the chain tensioners soon, when they give up it is bad news. The other issue that isn't cheap is head gaskets. They don't like being overheated (not that Any engine does) coolant system is caught up on maintenance. Other than that they are decent cars.
