View Full Version : Forester Suspension on an Outback

I'm going to be needing some new suspension soon, and was wondering whether Forester suspension was the same as the Outback's? I know the Outback shock has the spring cup mounted an inch or so higher on the strut body to give it the extra clearance over the standard Legacy, and was thinking that as the Forester rides at a similar height to the Outback, the suspension may be interchangeable.

I know Foresters are a damn sight more common round here than Outback's are so would be a lot easier to get replacement for. Also, does anybody have a full list of what years and models are interchangeable (i.e. 02 Impreza, 98 Forester, etc, etc).

Cheers for any help!

James

from what i remember, the forester uses the same struts as the outback.

i'd assume you'd want the same year range though as i believe the strut style changed from gen to gen.

i.e. 96-99 outback should be interchangeable with 96-99 forester

Forester is impreza based, so yes, it will work with any 1st or 2nd gen Legacy.
