Can a battery have enough power to have all the electrical stuff working but not enough to fully start the car? As in you can crank the engine and it's all firing up trying to start but never does?

Dude... I think you have the record for starting new threads... This kinda stuff you can ask in "what have you done to you car" thread... without adding a ton of threads to sort through...

Anyway, yes, you can have a dead battery and it will still make things work. Such as stereo, windows, and other things... The stater take the most power of all to work. If you hear a repeated click, dont bother trying to start it without cables...

Also... this does not sound like a dead battery.... if it's trying to start, it's something else not letting it start. If it's trying to fire and it's cracking, then you have another problem..

Mkay then I have another problem and could a faulty Purge be the problem?

Take some vid and post it, so we know what is really going on...

Aukums Razor. Is the car actually turning over and over and over trying to start but it is not?

Or do you turn your key and all the accessories turn on then when you go to start there is NOTHING. Does it click?

If it does NOTHING, I would have you check you shift selector to make sure it is fully in P and not half in/half out.

Also try starting the car with the selector in Neutral.

lol No It's where its fully trying to turn on and you can hear everything firing up but it's not starting and I'm doing it in small dose's because I don't want to flood my car. I've been having this for awhile but now its actually gotten this bad. I've cleaned everything and can tell a differences since I did clean my MAF IAC TPS & EGR and it was running with out stalling on me or even acting like it doesn't want to start for a good few days, My car even idles like it should now but last night I wanted to go get some gas and I tried 5 times and it just wouldn't start. The only thing I can think of is it's something to do with the Purge valve or something that is apart of the Purge. I do need a new Knock sensor but I know that's not it.

Purge solenoid will not cause what you are describing... Faulty knock sensor on the other hand could...

Really? I do need a knock sensor I know that. Reason I was thinking the purge is because the two main codes that came up last time I scanned my car was the knock and the purge. I just never knew the knock could prevent a car from not starting and or even stalling.

Knock sensor controls ignition timing, if the timing gets too retarded the engine will not run correctly. I'm not sure if our engines have a fail safe or not but it is possible that a bad knock sensor can cause an engine to run poorly.

As for the purge solenoid all that does is allow fuel vapors that have collected in the charcoal canister to be injested into the engine. I suppose if the solenoid stuck open it might cause some problems, however that solenoid is normally closed and I have only seen them fail to where they will not open and are thus always closed. The only problems that this would cause is a cel and increased emissions.

Ah okay, yeah I'm pretty sure its still working right so far to because you can smell the gas fumes when trying to start it when it doesn't start.

This kinda stuff you can ask in "what have you done to you car" thread... without adding a ton of threads to sort through...

Please don't encourage members to do this. The "what have you done to your car" thread isn't for asking random questions, it's for posting about what you did/what happened to your car.

Law of Diminishing returns: If everyone starts posting random garbage in the most popular thread in the forum, it will be impossible to sort through the information and properly distribute it.

That being said, he does start a lot of random threads that could probably be elsewhere (like in an older thread that could have been searched).

I told you before to fix the knock sensor.

Mark... You still have not posted a vid of what is going one... Everyone is guessing at what it might be. Post a vid of you trying to start it, that way we can get more of an idea on how to help.

That being said... You are no going to flood your car by trying to start it, it's fuel injected. If it is a knock sensor, they are easy to change.
