What is this fuse and extra wiring for??

So the battery in my SVX is dead and im wondering if this fuse and wiring has anything to do with it...

I knew it was in there and thought it was for an amp hookup but its not.

The black braided wiring is what is in question. It goes from the fusebox to the alternator, then back to the fusebox.

Im not electrical genius so could somebody help me out??

well thats a pretty high quality/ professional wire protector. our wiring guy uses it when he builds wiring harnesses. he says its some of the best you can get.
also few people have the tool to pin those plugs like that. he is a wiring genius. so ill show him the pic tomorrow and see what he says. k?

if i had to guess. i would say it probably had a shitty regulator in the alternator, and burned up some wires, and they paid to have a pro fix it. and he probably ran it all thru the fuse box for safety.
