I don't know if my AWD system works. How can I easily check? The fuse is good. All I know is if I give a little pulse of gas in my gravel driveway the front wheels will break loose.

If the fuse by the driver side strut tower is installed, you are in 2wd!

No fuse = AWD. The thing about testing your car in AWD on an automatic, is that by default the tranny sends 90% power to the front wheels. So you'll almost always get wheelspin on loose surfaces until the tranny's ECU decides to send power rearwards. Should be in your manual - I recommend you check it out if you have one. There are a couple of uniquely Subaru quirks to our cars.

LOL... that made my night! :smt005

Sorry, not making fun. I thought the same thing the first time I looked under the hood of a Subaru.

FWIW, if you're not in towing mode (fuse in) the default in "D" or "D3" is a 90F/10R power split.

Try locking it in "1" or "2" and let us know if you don't see better results. Putting it in a low gear gives you a 50/50 split.
