Hi Guys,
I own a Legacy BG5 GTB twin turbo and have just noticed sooty smoke from the exhaust when starting the car. Then it disappears. The car runs fine. What could it be, any help / guidance will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Off the top of my head if its black then its fuel related.

Is your GTB tuned or modified? Bigger injectors? ECU reflash?

Possibly your cold start programming is dumping more fuel and running the motor rich until the motor warms up.

The engine is stock, no mods at all. The ECU is also untouched. I tried revving the engine at idle and noticed the black smoke when revving hard.

Hi Chuck,
Thanks for your reply. My car is completely standard, no mods at all. Havent even touched the ECU.
If it is running rich when starting cold, is that a matter of concern or should I just leave it as it is??

Stock you say.. This is normal operations also if your getting condensation and black soot..
