04 sti rear sway bar

Ok so I saw someone had installed the front sti sway bar no problems on an Legacy L. To use the rear he said he had to use sti lateral links. Then I saw someone else post it worked but you have to put the end links on the outside. Then plenty of others saying it wont work. Does anyone have any hands on experience with this?

Where's the link to installing the front STI sway bar? The turbo front sways are bent differently to accommodate the turbo style exhaust. Normally you need a turbo crossmember to fit the turbo sways also. For the rears, to use any GD Impreza sway bar you have to hammer out or cut out the bottom hump on the spare tire well.

Mike, I think there is a difference in how the swaybars mount in the rear (my swaybar for my BK with the "C" style endlinks wouldn't just bolt on to my SG, which is nearly 100% the same as the GD) without the proper endlinks. The lateral links, I'm not so sure about.

As for the front, I have seen a turbo swaybar done on a non-turbo car, but it required using spacers to push the chassis mounts down further to make the bar fit. It'd be better just to get something custom built.

Mark, I haven't heard the need to use the C-Links that came with a swaybar before you mentioned it, but I guess that makes sense. As far as the front bars go, the n/a bars are "symmetrical," whereas the turbo ones are somewhat un-semmetrical if that makes sense.

It might be possible, but when I was musing keeping the Legacy bar for my Fozzie, it just didn't look possible the other way around. Perhaps its one of those one way things.
