my son is repalcing the plugs on my headlights on a '97 outback and needs to know which wire goes where. Any ideas or diagrams? :smt026

My new plugs have a red, blue and black wire.

Red is lowbeam, blue is highbeam and black is ground.

what color matches what from the body side of the car?

Use a multimeter (set to dcvolts) and turn on the headlight (low beam). Probe the wires to see which wires give you 12v then you'll know which one is ground and low. The one leftover will be high beam.

Red is lowbeam, blue is highbeam and black is ground.
Actually, it's a switched ground system with one hot (+).
Red = hot
Red/Blue = low beam ground
Yellow/Blue = high beam ground
what color matches what from the body side of the car?
?? There's only one way to wire it based on Thom's picture. You can't plug the harness into the headlight any way but one.
