Now that the Legacy has moved on it's time to let the cat out of the bag...

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2012/09/DSCF3956JPG-1.jpg

This is my 2007 Audi RS4!

It's pretty much stock for now, but with 420hp it puts a big grin on my face

Since getting it I've installed new Stoptech brake pads, K&N air filter, new cabin air filter, new HID bulbs, DRL bulbs & fog light bulbs, and an audi sport trunk mat.

I'm starting to assemble a stockpile of parts to keep me busy during the winter:

- ECS midpipe
- 034 motorsports trans mount
- apikol diff mount
- 034 motorsports front suspension arms
- Stoptech SS brake lines
- USP stainless clutch line & upgraded slave cylinder
- driver's side front axle

Will probably be adding upgraded motor mounts and a few other goodies to that list through the fall.

In a lot of ways it's the natural progression from my Legacy, being practical and comfortable at the same time as brutally quick!

Nice ride. The avant model is cooler though! ;)

What happened to the Legacy?

Thanks guys, I'm really enjoying the Audi and planning to hit my first Autox with it this weekend.

I had a blast with the Legacy but I wasn't driving it much any more and had more cars than garage spaces, so it was time to find it a new home.

So ironically I just took this pic at work, cause some women in a crew cab cummins just did a bump and grind in the parking lot.

Is that an rs4? I've never seen an S4 with recaros before and it threw me off. I've had a huge soft spot or is it hard spot, for that body style s4 :smt023

That's a B6 (03-05) S4, the RS4 wasn't made in the B6 body style. The S4 has the same Recaros as the US-spec RS4 (in Europe the RS4 got better seats and was available as an Avant).

The RS4 has a different body with wider fender flares to cover the much wider wheels & tires (OEM are 19x9 with 255/35R19 tires, you can fit 275/30R19 without modifying the body). It also has a ton of other stuff that wasn't on the S4, and a different direct-injected V8 that's closely related to the engine in the R8 (vs the A6-based engine in the S4).

They're both great cars, and I've wanted to own one since I first saw the B5 S4.

Yeah I sorta got to researching them and found all that out lol. I found it interesting the rs4 runs a 4vpc set up but the s4 has a 5vpc that was cool. But with a redline of 8250 cant see 40 valves making it lol

I was thinking about getting a nice A4 1.8t before I got my legacy. The newer Audis have a real sex appeal to them with the continous curves. Cant wait to see what power numbers this will put down once you start to add those parts you listed

The 1.8t is also a blast to fix...every other day, good thing Audi parts are CHEAP

^^ lol. Aren't they longitutunally mounted in the Audis, like the B5 Passat?

When I bought my car I also looked at a 98 A4. It took about 3 mins of "that's a nice car" to turn into "I can't afford maintenance on that."

SOOOOO jealous. Would trade my legacy in a heart beat for that (sorry guys) even if it did have a full STI swap.... Congrats on a great purchase I look forward to seeing your mods. I have a friend who is huge into audis... for example he has: Stage 3 B5 S4 widebody, B5 A4 VR6 swap with shaved engine bay also wide body, and a custom B5 S4 camper trailer....

Thanks Tim, the widebody B5s are mean as hell! I'm very happy with the RS4 and just got new sway bars, end links & engine mounts to add to the winter project pile-o-parts. Also picked up LED interior lights, but they're a bit on the blue side, so I'm going to try and find some "warm white" ones.

Been surfing the classifieds now to see what else fun little Audi's exist. Apparently in 03 there was an RS6 450hp V-8 Twin turbo...car weighs 4005lbs though. The cool thing is you can snag one now for under 20, bad thing is they only came in an Auto.

I'm really digging the RS4 since seeing yours. Once the price is closer to 20 I think I'm going to snag one. I have 2 years til the RS is getting tossed for something a bit classier.

Sadly 420hp isn't going to be enough, kinda want something insane... :smt012

Wish the RS6 Avant from Europe was over here...v-10 TT 650hp...that's a bit more like it :smt016

Oh and so you all don't get confused, I'll almost be 30 by that time and I just want it as a toy.

The cool thing is you can snag one now for under 20, bad thing is they only came in an Auto.Be careful! I was just kidding around until I test drove the RS4, then things got serious very quickly

The RS6 can be an absolute monster, there are more than a few running around with 6-speed manuals and 600+hp. ~4k lbs is prety much what an Audi sedan weighs, the RS4 is a hair under and the 03 RS6 is a bit over. They still manage to go like a scalded cat, but you do feel the weight in the corners and the pocketbook (big tires & big brakes equals big $$$).

Check out MRC tuning in the UK, they have a supercharger kit for the RS4 good for 600+ but you're looking a the thick end of $15k for it! Here in the states AMD is working on a charger based on the Eaton TVS1900 and targeting a sub-$10k price. Still a huge amount of money for a supercharger kit, but the market is so small that each unit has to pay a larger portion of the development cost so they don't have much choice.

Oh and so you all don't get confused, I'll almost be 30 by that time and I just want it as a toy.Haha who needs a reason? My logic was that I could buy a pre-loved uber-sedan for around the same money as a new SUV or STi limited. Don't regret the decision for a moment

almost 30 and want a toy.... I'm 35 (junior!), and I still don't have a toy!I don't think anyone can hang out here and claim they don't have a toy... I'm sure every one of your mods was absolutely necessary!

Small update....put some new wheels & tires on the RS4. 19x9.5 Avant Garde M310s with 275/30R19 RE-11 tires. She sure sticks to the road now :D

Moar low you say?

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/07/20130701084132-1.jpg

Over the winter I got most of the planned mod list installed and went with some H&R springs to sort out the stance. I'm trying to decide whether it needs to be just a tad higher with the crappy roads around here, and if I want to run some more camber up front (only -1.6 right now but I need adjustable upper arms to get any more).
