98 Outback header question

Will these headers fit on my 98 legacy outback?

Yes they will as long as you have the 2.5 dohc.. It might be a little tight were it bolts on to the head, but it'll fit just make sure to install new gaskets and some rvt gasket sealer.. Good luck with the install..

Will I have to widen the bolt holes or no?

No just give it a little elbow grease, wiggle it a bit and it should pop right in..

fitment is going to vary greatly. every header made is going to fit different from the next. don't listen to anyone when they tell you how your header is going to fit. the only thing you can count on is its not going to fit lol. sometimes its as easy as using some muscle other times you might have to bore the holes. i bought a tsudo which is suppose to be oneo the nicer ones out there and mine had the worst fitment ever. one hole on each side had to be bored out and it was the biggest bitch ever to get the other holes to line up then it rubs on my oil filter... so just be prepared for the worst hope for the best

There's a difference between "will it fit" and "how well designed is it?".

It will fit, but the knockoffs aren't the best design - I had to muscle mine in around the head studs a bit when I installed it. If you put the driver's side on first, it's not a hard job at all.

Well i thought the Tsudo was suppose to be pretty "well designed" yet ive heard better ebay reviews about how easy they went on. We you mass produce a piece like that, its hard to keep them indenticle from one to the next. One might fit like a glove, one wont. but when you have both sides of the header bolted on, and the back two bolts on each side cover up half the hole in the heads... theres no muscling that into place. your drilling some metal.

Installed my headers today...
Sounds great...
I uninstalled my j.pipe from the cat with the stock headers all in place then uninstalled the stock ones put the aftermarket on with the j.pipe then installed it to the heads..
Popped in with very little hesitation..
Bolted up and working fine...

Yeah..
With the headers and the j.pipe the bolts and nuts were on there tight and it was hard to do underneath the car..
So taking it apart one by one was way easier...
First header job I've done and a bis success.. :)
