Again, not sure where to post for help... But...

Does anyone know any easy ways to relocate the antenna on a 95 Leg sedan?
Currently it's in the front, driver's side corner, and I want to relocate it to the middle rear, and replace the long, broken, bent antenna with a nub...

Not even sure if it's worth the time asking, lol. Just curious.

EDIT by chuckthefuk - moved to proper section

I thought all the sedan antennas were mounted on the trunk section... or is this one of the older "retractable" non-power antennas that slide down into the driver's A pillar?

If it's the latter, then you can unbolt the antenna from the body of the car, and either buy or fabricate up a blanking plate for the hole (I believe RS25.com used to sell the antenna blanks). You'd want to use some kind of silicone to prevent water getting into the hole. Then, you just drop the antenna cable down through the body of the car, until it worms back toward your stereo.

From that point, if you want to relocate it to a stubby antenna on the middle back of the roof, you'll have to mark the placement point (buy your stubby antenna and base), drop the headliner, pull off the A-pillar interior trim, run the antenna cable up the A pillar, along the roof to the mounting point. Drill a 1/4" hole in your roof (masking tape to prevent damaging the paint around the hole), then sand the rough edges off the hole.

Run a bead of weatherproof silicone around the base of the antenna, connect the cable, set the antenna in place and wait till it bonds to the car. Test your radio to make sure it's working.
Reinstall the headliner and the pillar trims.

Post pictures and make everyone envious.

I have no clue what's going on with my antenna... On everyone else's BD's I've seen them on the trunk area, but mine's on my roof. I think it's supposed to retract, but of course it doesn't.

But thanks! That doesn't sound too complicated.

I shall. And nope, not yet. Gotta get some stuff done before I post anything.

No you don't. That's kind of the point of starting one...it's an ongoing evolution and record of your car's adventures.

Touche. I'll start one up tonight, in that case.

I'm about to shave the one on my QT panel since I hate it there... I'm thinking of using a high end interior antenna in the back window or a VW style one on the top of the roof.

If yours in on the roof, it sounds like it's an A-pillar mount one.

Yeah. It's all angled to retract into the pillar, but I think it's bent right at the base or something so it won't go down.

I want the antenna that the 2011, 2012 WRXs have.

My 96 Legacy Outback has the same antenna. It does manually retract, but it takes some fiddling to get it to go in.
