Best spark plugs for a 2000 Legacy B4 RSK

i was thinking about changing the sparks myself as the mechanic i went to was going to charge a small fortune. just wondering what the best plugs are for this model, i've heard the iridium ngk ones are the best but don't know which one to go for.
is there anything else that needs to be done to the engine when replacing them or is it just a matter of getting the old ones out and putting the new ones in?

I've found a suggested plug on the uk ngk site but only has the option of 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 engines. Would a turbo engine need a different plug to the non turbo legacy's?

The plug they suggest is BKR6E-11

Hmm... the plugs for my 2006 Forester XT EJ255 is LFR6AIX-11

For the 2004 WRX EJ205 it is BKR6EIX The IX if for Iridium

Have fun changing those out. I went to do it myself and gave up on the passenger side 2.

Although I havent done it on his car specifically... I have done it on the 2004 WRX and the 2006 FXT... It really isnt that hard. Remove the battery, washer bottle (if applicable) and intake. Then you should have enough room to get at the plugs. If you have individual coil packs... the will be in there with a 10mm bolt holding them to the valve cover.

I use one of these. A stubby 1/4 drive ratchet with a thin profile.

Once you get the coil packs out (you might need to rotate them 180 degrees to get clear), you will want a short 3/8 extension, spark plug socket, and a 3/8 in ratchet with a flex head like this:

Put the spark plug socket in the hole first. Then put the short extension in and connect it to the spark plug socket.

There should be about 1/5 inch of the extension sticking out of the spark plug hole.

Put your ratchet over the extension and snap it in... it then back the spark plug out until you have just enough room to disconnect the ratchet from the extension.

Now that the extension is stickin like 1 inch out of the spark plug hole... you can back the spark plug out the rest of the way by hand.

You should be able to pull the spark plug, spark plug socket and short extension out all at once.

On the rear drivers side plug (generally the hardest one) you might have to disconnect the extension from the spark plug socket to get the socket and plug out.

Re-installation is same thing just backwards.

Well the best spark plugs are the manufacturer fitted. Nothing is best but after them I think the NGK plugs are awesome performance. I think you should try them You will really feel the difference.
