MSD Coil upgrade?

Okay, I was looking into doing the mod, but wanted to know the benefits of the mod. Is there a increase in mpg and power after the mod? Anyone that has done this mod feel free to chime in with your experiences!

You'll see a very small increase in mpg, maybe one or two mpg. Also a small increase in power. It will be smoother too.

TBH, I have this and I noticed the idle was smoother and it "seems" to rev faster. No MPG change. Was it an upgrade? Or just a sign that my old one was taking a crap on me? I don't know, but I got mine for way cheaper than a new OEM coilpack costs, so I'm happy. I had to get new plug wires, so if you have the old style coil (with female plugwire terminals on the coil), add the cost of wires to your list too.

I have a 92 Legacy Wagon 2.2L did this swap a few years back. I used the one for the dodge neon's and mini cooper. I made a patch harness to correct the firing order. The pigtails that fit on the MSD coil are avalible at the parts house and I cut the tail off an old subaru coil I had picked up at the junk yard. I think I still have a scimatic in my notes some where and I could dig up some pic's if you would like (sorry not no my computer at this time). I never noticed any mpg gain but the engine seemed to idle and rev smoother. I would say the only reason to do this swap is because u can probably get the MSD cheaper then a factory new, but I personaly have at least two extra dimond coilpacks that I have pulled off juckyard cars, just to have around. Those coilpacks are useally pocket freebee's from my local Pick'N'Pull

Like they said, when you do thia, don't expect much powergains. My idle smoothed out, start up seemed to take less effort and the revs felt a little quicker, but I can't truly say yes or no.

This is a mounting plate for the MSD coil pac if you plan on doing it.
