So I just acquired a 97 legacy ex postal service car with a bad steering rack. My question is will a power steering rack from a Japanese, Australian, British,etc... right hand drive car work in this one? and if so where would I find one of these mythical racks at? I would just buy a steering rack but can't come up with the money for the excessive price that they are. Also in my times of lurking forums I think I remember hearing that the rack is different for turbo and non turbo subarus is it the same case for the right hand drive cars.

Well, if you would list your location, we might be able to locate one local. I saw one today thats a new arrival at a local yard. I keep an eye out since one of my friends and also a member on here has a postal car also.

JDM or EDM ones should interchange in theory.

I live in east Tennessee, I checked car-part.com and couldn't find anything local but I'm up for suggestions on anything. I'm not in a hurry on this car at all so I can wait till one pops up somewhere, even if it's months down the road.

here also might be a chance that Impreza's and Foresters might work from certain years and there are people out there that have Halfcut's that still have that stuff in it that might work.

Also if someone car find out if turbo and non turbo JDM cars use the same rack, that could tell a lot.

Hey thanks guys, I was thinking about people having leftovers from halfcuts they used for motor swaps is why I asked about the turbo jdm being able to work. and Monstar I may randomly text you about that if I get some spare funds up. I got the car by trading some labor around on repairs to another of the customers cars so it is just another project of many and now my 4th current Subaru, although being rhd definitely makes it my strangest Subaru.lol

Haha thanks, I'll see if I can get some spare money up for that, because that sounds like a dang good deal to me. But when you trade your labor out for random trades like me you don't make much money that way sometimes.lol
