CB Antenna

Hope this is the right place for this question. Any of you who do a particular amount of off-roading/camping, what are you doing for CB antenna? Anyone using one of those impedance-matching devices that split your AM/FM antenna to any success? I've got a Midland handheld I like to take with me, but would like to plug into the car when traveling.

I'll be using an upgraded galaxy radio though. I know mounting it to the roof is THE best way to mount an antenna.

Also they should be separate from the AM/FM. the single would be crap. Its also crap when you don't mount it in the center of the roof. The roof acts as a ground plane and spreads the signal evenly in all directions. Mounting it to a brush guard, fender, or roof rack has very poor performance

Best bet aside from drilling the roof and permanently mounting it is a mag base for the antenna.

I do surveying work and we use CB's often as cell phones tend to interfere with the equipment. I think your idea sounds best, some sort of magnetic base antenna but trying to discreetly run the cable seems to be an issue with our frameless windows....not drilling holes in the roof, for sure! Although, I think any antenna mounted anywhere has got to be better than the rubber antenna on the handheld unit.

I've been using a K30 magnetically mounted antenna on my trunk lid for the last 3 weeks and it's been great. I'm picking up truckers' conversations 2-3 miles away. It gets way better reception than the little rubber antenna on my handheld.
