EJ22E Headers

So ive spent quite a while trying to figure out if I can use dual port EJ25 headers and cannot figure out if I have dual or single port exhaust. From what I read my 98 should have single port but I had a look under my car and it looks like it has dual port. The header looks like it has two pipes put together. Do I have an oddball or do the single ports look like what I described?

There's one pipe on each side witha good chunk of heatshield. a pic would be helpful

Yeah Ill have to post one in the morning. It was too dark when I made the post. It looks like the pipe on each side splits into two

if it's a 22e then it'll have single port. Is it possible that your car had a new engine put in that could be dual port?

It should be two pipes off of each head collecting to one, if you have dual port. But a 98 2.5 should be dual. I think the 2.2 was the single port(after 95)

I think it was 96 it became single port. My car was built in 97 sold in 98. Heres a photo

that's a dual port, though being a 98, it shouldn't be unless its a EJ25.....

Nah its got EJ22 stamped on it. Am I able to use the ej25 headers?

Then sometime swapped the heads, it the motor has been replaced with an older motor. Those are dual port for sure.

Luckily those are the heads you want if you decide to turbo it, or upgrade the headers. You can use a whole wrx turbo setup, direct fit. Or you can buy upgrades headers for a 2.5rs

Using those headers would require a whole new exhaust system right? Cos the 22 headers has a cat or something as part of it doesnt it?

nope...it all fits.

Read 13 pages of a thread and found that they can be disconnected from the cat. Cheers

The first cat it's after the headers, those will bolt up, the piece with the cat I think they call a j-pipe

Ive always heard to either get genuine ones (which are proving hard to find) or a good aftermarket one. So what are some good aftermarket ones?

For exhaust gaskets? The only ones I heard hard to find are the single port on the cylinder head side, but yours is dual port. I personally think brand wise doesn't make a difference
