Knock sensor

So I got my new knock sensor today and decided to go more thoroughly look at the old one, it's covered in a ton of old sand and biodegraded crap that I can't reach with my giant hands to clean, also need to get a longer extension.

Anyways! I know there has been a lot of controversy over whether or not relating it is bad. I guess everyone has been waiting on data logs to find out, buy I haven't seen any. Reason why I ask is because sometimes I feel like my loud exhaust or intake might be getting picked up as a ping here and there, that and I have some occasional wheel hop when starting off the line, and also because my a.c. has a bad pulley on it that I believe is throwing the belt out of whack. Not sure if the knock sensor can pick any of that up.

Relating it? I think you mean replacing it. Or relocating it?

It never hurts to replace an old sensor that might be damaged with a new one.

You can relocate the sensor to another 12mm bolt hole a little further back on the block, but there's no point if the sensor is busted.
And it doesn't pick up your exhaust or your intake, unless your exhaust and intake aren't bolted down and are bouncing all over. The knock sensor is listening for a damaged crank or cam.

Sorry for the typo, stupid phone. Relocating.. It's already done I replaced it with stock location.

What year is your car and what motor do you have? If it's a 2nd or 3rd gen, relocating is pointless. They are already kinda easy to change out and you dont need to replace them often anyway.

95 dual port 2.2 yeah I kept it where it belongs, I don't need to risk it.
