Just putting it out there, tokico is having a great sale on shocks right now. I got a set of HTS (japanese D specs) adjustable shocks for my BE for less than $360 SHIPPED. That's about the best deal you can get on run of the mill KYB HR2's! Anyway, already installed my set and still playing around with the adjustment.

:shock: I may have to order a set of these, I think my car still has all the stock ones at 120K miles, I think it may be time for replacement and these may be the perfect replacements. Thanks for the heads up!
How do they compare to the bilsteins that you had before, I imagine the adjustability is nice. I know you have limited experience but how do you like them?

I think I'm sticking to 2.75 turns from firm both front and rear. 3 turns from firm in the front is a little too soft (about stock), I had 3-4 turns from firm in the rear initially, I now have it a little firmer in the rear and the car feels a little more neutral on fast sweepers. The ride is def. more compliant vs. the bilstein shocks mainly due to the compression setting being not as stiff.

They fit perfectly under the rear strut brace, which I thought I would have to lose but Cusco seemed to have thought about it beforehand and put notches in the bracket to accommodate extensions.

I received mine last week, although they will not be installed till late next month when we have open shop time in school. One question though, did yours come with the protection caps to screw over the ends so that dirt and stuff do not get into the adjuster hole? There was a sheet of paper in my package that said 4 were supposed to be included but i received none. :-(

No, I forgot to mention the shocks don't come packaged with the adjustment knob and caps; email the contact on the website and they'll send you out a set :) For the rears, I bought the extenders from TiC for $30...it's better than having to dig into the trunk and lifting up the panels to adjust the rears.

Rougeben: do they come with the dust boots?

Also the only additional things one would need would be the dust caps and adjustment extensions for the rears, correct?

Also is it okay to have them sit boxed up til April to install?

no dust boots included with mine, as for the dust caps, they are included with the purchase of the struts and do not need to be ordered separately, however for some reason it seems like they don't ship with the struts. I would not be worried about letting them sit, they either are going to sit in a warehouse or in your garage, it should not matter.

yeah it's a clearance sale I think. The only warning I have for you guys is to be careful will installing the rears; I think the slides were damaged on mine when they were on the spring compressor, developed a small leak. Now running 2 turns front, 1.5 turns rear, the soft ride was nice, but I missed the handling.

no, they are included but apparently aren't packed in the boxes so you have to request them separately. Tokico thinks they are shipping them to you in the box with the shocks but neither mine nor Ben's actually came with them.

The real reason I came here is to say that I installed mine today, didn't have too much time to mess with the adjustment so I just set them all back 1 turn from firm and that is where they sit right not. I can definitely notice a difference with them an I'm liking it so far.

not hard at all, just send them an email and they will ship them out to you.
I hope you like them. I was in the same boat as you 130K on the stock ones as far as I know, and there was definitely an improvement

If all of your current equipment is stock, it doesn't hurt to just upgrade everything at once so you don't have to take apart your suspension more times than necessary.

I would've bought these shocks long ago but I'd like to have springs ready to go so I can install them all at once.

Yea, that is my thought as well.. I was looking to buy a whole set of stock springs, hats, dust bellows, seats, etc, and make basically loaded struts to just pop in... but my total on Subarupartsforyou was coming up to over $650 for all of that..

I do like the ride height of the car so I don't want to lower it, but if someone has some BE H6 Outback spring suggestions, that would be hot.

At the very least, these struts/shocks will sit on a shelf until I am ready. I just wanted to make sure that I do not miss out on this deal.

on your outback, these struts would drop your car about 1-2", the strut bodies on the outbacks are longer.

Actually, I found myself a 2002 BE Legacy yesterday in a parking lot and I parked next to it. It is a difference but not nearly as dramatic as I expected, so I think I will be pretty happy with it in the end especially if it lands somewhere in-between the two.

In related news, my struts showed up today but I have not been home yet to see if the adjuster was included.

My adjuster was included, however not all is great. The struts look pretty beat up, There was just a piece of cardboard between them that shifted, and it looks like the two struts were banging against each other during shipping.. the paint is chipped up in several places. The adjuster cap also managed to come off of one of the struts, and was floating around the box.

The shocks are in great shape, as they were individually boxed.
