Now I know everyones a critic.... I like ebay products depending on what Im buying. That being said, I was looking at a couple ideas reguarding exhaust components.
I know that Im not going to find a set of aftermarket headers for the 2.2, I keep seeing the dual ports for the 2.5... after the oem exhaust manifolds you have the front cat, rear cat, intermediate pipe with resonator to the muffler. Im thinking for a single exhaust setup, having the muffler piping loosely bent (less restriction) where the factory cat converters would be, and once its at the poper angle for a straight shot to the next hanger, install a single universal cat converter, not a test pipe but just a straight cat converter. From there more pipe from the converter to the muffler. Essentially just a simpler idea of stock. Looking at the prices to replace all the components with oe replacement isnt gonna be cheap, and most of my exhaust is in need of replacing.
I also considered going with a dual exhaust setup. On ebay there is a cat converter with a single inlet and dual outlet. from there I can run the two catbacks again keeping the bends as clean and unrestricting as possible, to their respective mufflers. Of course this would be a more outgoing idea for the exhaust, and I do want to keep things simple but it was a theory that I decided to throw out there.
essential parts:
Magnaflow Catalytic Converter (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-25-Magnaflow-Universal-Catalytic-Cat-Converter-94105-New-Same-Day-Shipping-/110861226699?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19cfd812cb&vxp=mtr)
Twin Loop Muffler (http://www.ebay.com/itm/TWIN-LOOP-2-5-INLET-M-POWER-AXLE-BACK-STAINLESS-STEEL-DEEP-SOUND-MUFFLER-EXHAUST-/370664455941?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item564d52bf05&vxp=mtr)
Dual Outlet Cat (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnaflow-Universal-Catalytic-Converter-Cat-2-5-2-S-D-FED-94007-/180858702042?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a1c04c8da&vxp=mtr)
Now as far as the twin loop muffler goes, I know people are reading this thinking "RICE!!!! RICE!!!! RICE!!!!" But as can be seen here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpJGu5pwJ58) the twin loop doesnt sound bad at all. That was with aftermarket headers.
Essentially I want to have a decent sounding, decently breathing exhaust and if I can make it for less than buying bolt-ons, then Im happy. Does this sound like a potential upgrade or just stick with stock?
