EJ25D Timing Marks

I Installed a new belt onto the engine back in the summer, and the marks were off on the left side, but the count was right.. Can I assume this is typical, or is the belt off?

The marks lined up perfectly on the right side and at the crank mark, but when I put the belt on, it moved the cams on the driver side, so they rotated forward, say 1/2 to 2/3rds of a tooth..

So, the only time the timing marks line up is the first time you put the belt on. After that, you should just verify that the crank spocket can cam gears all have their marks in the correct places; as the marks on the belt with change position every time you rotate it.

Always get a T-belt that has timing marks, makes life so much better...

The cam gears are naturally off slightly, but not by much. The belt will move, but the gears and crank will still be at the same mark, just as anothernord just noted.
