Spark Plugs

Well i changed the spark plus awhile back but put in the bosch platinums not knowing they arent good for subarus.. Hopefully it didnt mess anything up.. :( but anways im going to put in new ones this weekend and was wondering what everyone else is running or recommends?

also, after looking, there's a alot of different types (Standard plug, V power plug, G power platinum plug, OE Style Laser Iridium plug, OE Style Laser Platinum plug, Iridium IX Plug)... Which ones out of that laundry list of plugs would be the best... i know the stock ones, but would these
others be any better without harming my car?

I've heard great things about all of the NGK coppers. I'd go with the V-powers unless they're significantly more expensive.

Ive had bosch Platinums in my car for 50k kilometers, no problems at all. Some people make it seem like the cars going to explode if you use them.

yea... I've had them in for almost 40,000 miles and no problems :-)

But it can cause issues down the road, if the car is vulnerable in other areas.

I've heard of BE owners having their stock champion spark plugs take a crap on them at 30k.

the guy i spoke with used to work on subarus. the black turbo that i've seen was actually there but i didn't find out who's it was.

yea i had just started hearing that the platinums cause problems so thats one of the reasons i was going to change them. i dont need any more problems with my car :lol: . Im gunna go to autozone and advanced autoparts today and see what they say. But if i stay with the platinums, what problems could i see down the road?

I honestly don't think the platinums are going to cause any extremely serious problems... thats just my opinion thou

ok here's my knowledge of this topic...when i first bought my car.....it had plat. 4's on...i soon changed to ngk IrdiumIX...they are ok but many 2.5 owners like the V POWER b/c it's copper and it's CHEAP! from my research...i don't think that they make V POWERS for a 2.5 DOHC...it seem that you have a rio red leg. to? so i assume you have a 97-99 2.5GT? but to the topic.....i've heard many good things about the stock ngk platiums...they run about like 10 bucks a piece :evil: i got my ngk's for like 5 maybe...it's a long time ago...but my advise is....go stock ngk platiums or standard ngk's ;-)

The proper plugs are NGK V-Power Copper plugs. They are like $1.50 a plug.

Replacement frequency is about 10,000 miles, but they are much more efficient than any other plug.

Platinums are junk.

Iridiums are good, but real expensive.

And they do make V-power plugs for the DOHC motor. I'm using them in my Forester.
