Okay so my wagon will probably end up pulling a lot more watts in the not-so-distant future. I want to take the accessory items off the main battery. I remember hearing a while back about using an isolator so that I can have a kinetic battery in the back charged via the stock charging system but if one dies (oops I left the light on) it doesnt drain the other battery. Ill be honest the most I really did before was the basic beginner stuff, wire up fog lights, wire up radio/subs (battery>cap>amp>outs) call it a day on the electronics.

By spring time I plan on having a power inverter installed (maybe Ill follow the diy and have a custom outlet  ) so that I can power my laptop. Ill soon be attempting to install a trunk release to my wagon hatch (handles missing) and Id like to not lose power to that as a safety if I lose battery power or lock keys in the car (hidden external switch) Im already pushing three 10s in the back which also will probably be changed in the near future. So if I can have my yellowtop under the hood taking care of all the important/factory tasks and wire up all my unnecessary desires to another power source thatd be awsome. I know that the more power you draw from the battery takes away from the power being supplied to the drivetrain so Id rather not create a parasite.

I think what you want is a high-power alternator, but if I am wrong then somebody please correct me.

I was thinking about something along the lines of this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/80-AMP-HIGH-CURRENT-RELAY-BATTERY-ISOLATOR-CAR-AUDIO-INSTALL-ADD-BATTERY-POWER-/350623508751?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item51a2ca290f&vxp=mtr) but I didnt know if anyone else here has used a toy such as this, if they went with one of the bigger units or if this will work fine for my application. I will of course be running a high output alternator in the future

You have a 98 leggy right? looks like it came with a 85 amp alt. the 00-04 has a 90 amp and the 05+ have a 110 amp. It looks like it would mount in no problem, but it may have a diff connector. I myself in my 92 legacy went from the 70A to the 90A, after installing a stereo that caused my lights to dim when the subs would hit. I am also contemplating relocating my battery to the fender wells and using two Miata sized batterys. One to start the car the other to run the acc. and have an isolator to deal with it.

But anyway regardless

Get this
http://www.maniacelectricmotors.com/hiou195ampsu.html

This is the only one I have found and puts out 65amps at idle, if you are pulling more than 100amps with your system alone you might need something bigger but your on your own there.

and this
http://www.paranoidfabrications.com/sho ... three-kit/ (http://www.paranoidfabrications.com/shop/the-big-three-kit/)

and ask him for a run of 4awg wire from the battery to the fire wall (he only charged me an extra $5) this will be for an extra ground, as most stuff is grounded to the firewall and the stock wire just runs to the fender.

Then last upgrade your only battery to a dry cell like Odyssey or Stinger or you can get an extra battery but I didn't wanna add the extra weight.
