Hi im new with legacy's. I had a question about my car and lowering. Im sure its been talked about to death but i cant seem to get a staright anwser on this ive been reading and reading. I have a 98 legacy outback wagon. I would like to drop it down. I was told I can just through 02-03 wrx springs in and it should work. Then ive heard i need diffrent top hats to get the springs to fit. What will work and do i need new top hats i know struts but what else? or if just leave the struts i have i know they will be gone fast but will the springs work with them :smt021 sorry about the over talked about topic just wanting a straight anwser before i spend the money for parts that i cant use or will need more parts than i think.

So yes the wrx springs will fit my stock setup with nothing else or what all do i need to get those springs to fit?

its easier to just keep it all the same top hat to cam bolt. sedan will work just fine. wagon isnt going to give you lowering.

If you want the really simple answer, just buy a set of H&R springs specific to your year vehicle. Install them. Drive.
Then you don't have to worry about what part fits what.

With spacers they should be just fine... however, I have a sedan, so I didnt have this problem, but I think it's only spring rate that is the difference.

OK so update i found a guy thats gonna sell me his 02 wrx setup minus the rear top hats dosent have them, will everything bolt in, and useing my stock rear tophats will they all work. Hes gonna sell them to me for 50 bucks. I just wana make sure before i say ok. Also there from a sedan that shouldnt matter correct it will give me more of a drop? Lastly how much of a drop do you get from this setup

IIRC the 02 have a different rear tophats. Your tophat won't work since your matching it with the spring. It have something to do with the diameter.

I have 02 wrx wagon struts/springs on my wagon. Its a great upgrade and lowered the car about a half inch to 3/4 inch. The dampening is much improved and the car corners much better. My whole set up is wrx take offs (struts/springs/top hats) and it bolted right on.
