Swapping to a phase2 motor in my bk and kept my old trans, Im trying to finally remove my stripped phase1 2.2 and I cant tell 100% if the bolt pattern (for lack of better term) is the same trying to unbolt the trans from the engine. So to put it simply, do the phase1 and phase2 4eat bolt up the same or am I gonna have to find a phase2 trans now to match the new motor?

seems like a good time to swap to a 5mt :smt023

I think they bolt up considering subies are legos essentially. take some measurements to be sure.

Phase 2 has 6 bolts and 2 nuts connecting the engine and tranny.

Phase 1 has 2 bolts and 2 nuts. They will bolt together but only by the 2 nuts and 2 bolts... the other 4 bolt holes in the Phase 2 side will be unused.

This only applies to the engine and tranny mounting. You cannot combine a phase 1 block with phase 2 intake manifold or visa versa.

seems like a good time to swap to a 5mt Believe me if it was in the cards I would, I have the pedal assembly and another rear diff with almost 100k less miles on it. Eventually Ill have the money for a new trans, I know thats gonna be needed not too far from now.

Now Im curious, the bolt atop the starter... Does that thread to the trans at all or does it simply pass through and thread into the engine only? When my brother owned it, he snapped the bolt inside and I simply employed a lag bolt to make sure I wouldnt split the housing of the new starter after one came flying off the motor  Now Im just hoping that the broken bolt doesnt keep the trans mated to the engine..
