well the pos car died again tonight. It seems to do it once i fill up with gas. not sure what the issue is and its only at our city market. It died then i turned the key off and it hesitated then fired up (new alti. new fuel filter, new plugs, wires are new) could it be a fuel pump maybe? The idle is low when its not under a load I.E drive rev. what do you guys think?

full re cap of how and what i replaced, and when:
First died pulling into my parking spot died (replaced the alti. tested bad thought that was it)
couple days later did it again (replaced the fuel filter cause id tap on it and it would start running again)
now maybe 2 weeks it died on the way home came to a stop and the car died. (turned teh key off then it hesitated then turne don again)

FYI 98 legacy outback auto. with 226k and 2.5 engine.

Try to clean your maf sesor and idle air control valve. Maybe check your TPS. Its hard to diagnose weird problem like this but check out the stuff that you haven't check.

How loose is your key when it's in the ignition barrel? Sometimes, if the key is really loose, or you have a lot of weight on the keychain, the ignition barrel kills power to the car. Seen it happen with a few relatives that have high mileage.

What would cause a car to shut off at random times? Anything that is loose or failing that affects the ignition system!...
