Hey all, I have been doing some research and I am thinking about switching my short block in my LOB to an '05 STi short block. From what I have been reading the block will bolt right up to NA heads. If I am wrong on this please let me know. I am just starting to prepare the ground work for a turbo build. Also, I found a good deal on a STi shortblock, but that catch is that it has spun a bearing. Should I mess with this block or not? Thanks

Too many variables here.

Do you have a budget? If you have a big budget, just go with a full swap? You'll have reliability and tune-ability.

If you just want to turbo your car, and want to swap the short block, don't bother with an engine that needs a rebuild - you'll waste time and money that you could have put toward a full swap.

If you're gonna rebuild a motor don't even bother with the STi block. STi and NA is pretty much the same block. The STi semi close deck is the only difference and that wont make a difference to you.

^ well and the extra pcv port. but That is true with the 2000+ blocks. But if he has a 98, thr blocks are very different. Regardless the rods are much much stronger in the sti.
