Took an hour trip the other day to go out to eat for my birthday, about halfway through the trip the car felt like it was struggling to keep at highway speed, started to smell burning oil, so I pulled over and checked where it was coming from and there was smoke coming out of the differential...Car barely made it home (was still dragging hardcore and the diff sounded like a jet engine if I went over 45mph...stayed quiet below those speeds). I was wondering if my diff is trashed, I checked the oil in it, oil's definitely burnt up and has some small bits of metal in it. And if it's toast, could I just disconnect the driveshaft and run the car in FWD?
