Replica Headers

Do headers from a 2.5 RS impreza fit on third gen Legacy's, I have an 01 and I heard about replica Borla headers.
Just wondering if anyone has ran them.

yeah they all fit like shit lol. Its going to take some muscle atleast to get them on. and then hope thats all the problems. Some people have to bore the holts a little wider. I bought the tsudos which are suppose to be one in the nicer sets out there and the fitment sucks so bad, it rubs on my oil filter. I have to take my headers off every time i want to change my oil.

That's terrible. You should get an oil filter relocation kit or something, or ditch those headers.

But dont you run into oil filter problems even with the Borlas?

Borlas are the original and are perfect fitment. They bolt to a stock exhaust, clear the oil filter etc.

the tsudos are suppose to clear the oil filter and have a good fitment. i just got a bad set. when you mass produce parts like this, they are never all perfectly the same. Im thining about that relocation kit, specially being since its the rally car and the oil gets changed frequently.

I have those very same headers & they're not all that bad. They do help w/the low end some though & they do have to be bored out a little bit. I've had mine for about a year & they've held together pretty good. Just use the oil filter claw that Subie techs use & the filter will be just as easy to come out as it always is.

The genuine Borlas fit fine. I've never heard of ones that don't. The knockoffs fit like crap, most of the time. Both have cracking issues.

All EJ25s are dual port. Only the 96/97-01 EJ22s were single port.

Hey guys, sorry for rezzing this older thread, but I do have some firsthand information regarding these Borla UEL replicas.

I have the Borla replica UELs on my BH. I got them new from the "speedyracerparts" Ebay store, which I believe no longer exists. They were also listed as being for the 2.5 Impreza. Like MonstarMotorsports reported, the fit is...mediocre. Be prepared to have to stretch them apart significantly to clear all the header studs. When I originally installed mine, the clearance between the end of the manifold (where the cat hooks up) and the front crossmember (might have been close on the trans housing as well?) was roughly 1/16". Needless to say, there was an extremely obnoxious vibration between 2500-3500 rpm when under load. I wound up having to make header studs long enough to let me add a second set of exhaust flanges between the head and the manifold (to space the manifold out away from the body and get rid of the vibration). Everything works great now but it is kind of a hackjob.

Also note, the welds at the flanges on this thing were utter crap. I took them to a local welding shop and they made a nice bead for me (pictured). It has worked great since. The manifold's been on there more than a year, and is not wrapped/coated. I have had ZERO problems with cracking or leaks or anything, although at this point the bolts could probably stand to be snugged up. I do not have any issues replacing my oil filter with the headers installed, although I can see where certain filters with thicker housings could be problematic. I use the Bosch filters (which are pretty beefy) and its no problem to get my Gorilla Hands in there to change them out.

tldr: Install was harder than it should have been due to cheap manufacturing, but overall I am pleased with my Ebay UEL headers.
