The guys on Mighty Car Mods installed an Ipad into a BH STI swapped Outback. It was almost a perfect fit. Not sure if this belongs in DIY or not....or audio/video......

I saw this! I might pick up a spare radio bezel just to do this for fun. Nothing permanent, but a cool mod :smt023

its definitely neat, after seeing at a york,pa meet about a year ago some had an ipad mount in their wrx that was along those lines but removable.

I saw this today and was going to post about it. Does anyone know if the dash trim is the same USDM as AUS? I think I am going to try it in a few weeks if it is

Aside from it having its "off-shoot" on the right for RHD cars, and the addition of two buttons, it should be exactly the same.

I've seen this done to a VW before, not impressed but I do love this mod, I want to try it with a Ipad mini in my car. If people can donate cash for one to me then I'd be willing to be the ginipig car for this. lol

The point of a tablet is the flexibility of rotation and tilt. You can't do that if it's fixed in a car console. So you might as well use a cheaper touch screen, build a cheap Windows 8 carpc.

Wow, that is hot. You know, I do have an iPad 1 WiFi+3G that I dont use very often.. but I do like the headunit that I already have too..

I think if you go with their route and buy a used ipad 1, this would be a pretty reasonably cheap modification for the multimedia capability that you'll be getting. If you don't want to pay a seperate data plan for the pad, you can use your phone as a mobile hotspot (one of the best reasons why you should root your android or jailbreak your iphone)

As for a possible cover to place over the pad to keep it concealed, you can either sacrifice 3 of those closing DIN cubby holders or any of many DIN cover plates available, and make a panel with the 3 those things as a front cover,

this is awesome...but ipads are very sensitive in cold weather,(any lcd screen actually) soo if you live anywhere it gets cold, make it removable
