Thought'd I share my long awaited package. I have not seen these out of the box before so incase anyone was looking, here they are!
The build quality on them are not half bad at all! The welds are clean, everything is smooth and lined up. Can't wait to put them on!

Nice! how much did the kit cost? Theres not alot of 2nd gen specified coilover kit
I thought that the 1st gen legacy have the same rear tophats with the impreza GC's

I got the kit for $1k. I had ordered them a couple of weeks back, with them being shipped from the east coast and with SEMA going on that week, shipping was delayed. I know Stance, Ksport and BC Racing all make kits for the legacy's. Ive also noticed, not alot of companies stock the 2nd gen legacy kit, so tracking one down may be hard, but BC can always make a kit, usually takes another 2 weeks. Its a little weird because not all of them say 93-98, Im not sure how much variation they actually have when it comes to fitments because our cars are like legos. so many other parts fit so many models and not many companies state that.

supposedly the GC impreza(93-01) rears and the 1st gen legacy's (90-94) shares the same rear top hat pattern. The 2nd gen legacy's have a wider rear mounting holes and shares with the wrx's

BTW make sure to share your experiences with these coilovers

From what I understand, this is correct. You can still mount GC/BC stuff on the 95-99s but it requires mounting the tophat differently in the rear. The fronts are the same.
I don't understand why they (coilovers) say 93-98. The suspension intervals are 90-94, 95-99, 00-04, etc.

Got them installed finally! whoohoo!! I am getting my steering rack boots changed and an alignment tomorrow. I will post pics but my impressions at first are great! definitely some getting used to but they are pretty comfortable. Im suprised. :) They are alot stiffer just cruising down the street, however being in san francisco, the roads are total SH*T! which doesnt make it comfortable. Havent taken it on the freeway yet either though. I am currently at F:21/30 stiff, R:22/30 stiff. I noticed a big difference from F:17 stiff, which is much softer. so the adjustments are noticeable for sure! I am rubbing away at my front fender liners, I am debating wether to trim/cut/zip tie them up, remove them, or raise the car up 1/2". Camber is set at 0, trying to be as flush as possible. I want my tires to last haha.

That's cool you four found some I been searching for suspension for my car for a while now..one question though, you said you had to fit the rear tophats differently? How so? and do you think that would be the same for the sedans? I like the kw variant coilovers but damned it seems like they want to keep them by asking that price. I heard Xyz has some nice ones. I did see some. Tein coil spring dampers that are adjustable whats the difference? And good job by way snagging those up.

Lol, not an option. Cut if you get snow. take them out otherwise then lower it a 1/2 inch.
Camber wear isn't as big an issue as people make it out to be. 6 degree of negative on my rears have done little to my tires. Its toe wear, that is the issue.

I got the car aligned from my friends shop, i may get it redone because its a little off, but very little. the result sheet shows is front:left 0.04mm, front:right -0.01mm. rear is 0.2mm on both sides. total toe is 0.03mm. I set the fronts to 16/30, rears are at 22/30. its comfortable for a daily driver, still bouncy on bad roads, but tolerable, still able to corner and go around stuff very nicely. car doesnt sway on turns, stays very flat and on the ground. I love when I try to rock the car back and forth from pushing on it, it doesnt move :)
my impressions so far have been great! I do like them alot, however, I am rubbing the top of my rear tires inside the rear fenders, but I have rolled fenders already, I might need to really get them flattened because they may be rubbing inside the top. we'll see.

Give it a rake like the old muscle cars all high jacker style....raise it like 1/2 inch in back..I have seen a few wagons here that are like that, I think it looks pretty cool, might get old after a while though.

After christmas Im planning on raising the rear about 1/2" anyways and possibly rolling the rear fenders, again.

Looks nice, but based on your pics I'd say you should raise the back about 1/2 or 1/4 inch to even the front to back look. And rear wiper upgrade mate!

My friend and I finally got around to adjusting them. It looks much better. Debating whether it should be lower all around, or maybe just in the fronts. From the picture it still looks somewhat lower in the back but it could be partly from the camera angle. What do you think huffer?

Ooooh very nice! I just picked up my coilovers last weekend, got the fronts in but I am going to need to drill a hole for the rears. I really like the ride height, your leggy looks great!

thank you for the kind words! How come you have to drill a hole for the rears? are they not directly for a 95-99 legacy?
KingDustin
01-30-2013, 10:09 AM
No, they were from a Impreza so 2 of the holes line up, the last one is just a little narrower. I got them from a friend for pretty cheap though so I can't complain. I just need to find some WRX or LGT rims, still rolling on steelies haha.

Some like the look of the lowered car on steelies. Gives it more of a sleeper look. Slam it on steelies is one way to rock it at least.

I know this thread is old but those year ranges are based on JDM years.. 99-03 = BE/BH

I'm going to try it since it's all I've got now. I was looking through the lowest legacy thread and there were a few very nice leggys w/ steelies. :smt023

If its all you got, by all means try to make it work. just make sure its safe and tight. very important part of the car is dependent on those bolts. for extra safety measures, always a nice thing to replace the bolts and nuts with new OEM ones. The steelies, i must say are nice because you wont have to worry about curb rash, or any visual damage that happens to them. worst case, you paint them. opposed to spending $$$ on a nice set of wheels and having to be worried about them. just keep it looking clean, simple, not too over the top and what your happy with.
good luck with the install! post pics when your done. what are the spring rates on the coils you have?
Ive noticed with mine, the dampening adjustments are really noticeable so start all the way either stiff/soft and work your way up/down. From mine being on 26/30, it was very rough. bringing it down to 22, is much much nicer to ride on yet i can still whip a turn out of no where and it'll be stiff enough to keep me through the turn. cant hurt the ladies too much in the front seats, haha! they might not want to ride with me.

Thanks! I was hoping to get them on this past weekend but ended up going to a junkyard and pulling a full leather interior w/ heated seats for my girls leggy so I'll be installing those this weekend and hopefully get some time to finish the clutch/tranny/suspension on my leggy haha. Too many projects.
