injector differences.

what are the differences in red top injectors? i had gotten a set of red top injectors from the local salvage yard and sent them to get cleaned and tested so that i can just drop them into the car and be done but i come to find out that the injectors sent out are different. were both red tops but the spray nozzle was different on the ones i got out of the yard but i said o myself that they were both red tops so why not try them, since theyve been in my gas mileage has dropped to 19mpg. i believe that the injectors out of the yard car are from an ej22. my car is an 98 bd outback with a ej25d in it. the top pic is what i got from the yard and the bottom is what was in my car. is there s flow difference on either or is it just a design thing? are they interchangeable? i cant find the sheet but i believe the injectors i had gotten cleaned were 240ish cc flow. i have been getting sorta conflicting info searching the web so kinda confused. anyone able to shed some light on this?

I'm guessing those are the earlier sidefeeds that came in the first gen EJ22 Legacies. The correct injector for your engine is the one on the bottom, which should flow 280cc. That might explain it.

I have gotten a 98 2.2 from an impreza pre-7/98, this vehicle was a standard transmission vehicle with gray top injectors...I think the flow rate are the same (I don't know the pulse rate and duty cycle and other dynamics). The injectors in my car are red tops with the same flow rate I believe its 280cc as well. The only difference I see is in the style if the nozzle, I anted to use those because the nozzle protrudes farther past the seating of the rails. Hopefully it will get a better concentration of fuel into the ports that way. But I haven't put my motor in yet I am still waiting on my vapor separator from Garcia Subaru in el paso, before I slap it in and try those injectors out.

Has anyone used those injectors in place of the red tops? I have had trouble finding any info out there on this subject...

I forgot I posted this but after a few months with the "earlier" injectors my car gets 232 miles a tank highway so it's bad. I just got my old injectors back from the marren fuel injection and are gonna be reinstalled soon. With that the older style injectors I have which has been professionally clean and tested will be for sale.
