Clean!!!! welcome to SLi!

Subarus have a unique styling characteristic.. at least pre 2008/9..

Loving the black wheels

Question though.. How does one transport a pop up tent while claiming VIP status? I've moved a few of those and my wagon barley fit the bill.

Thanks!

If I lean the front seat all the way back, I can fit 2 10x10's when they're still in the boxes, but I scuffed my headliner which pissed me off and the business is growing (I also have a full time job) so I said I have to get another car to use for the business, and it was an excuse to buy a true daily driver because I've gone too far with the M to drive it around daily any more.

There are quite a few pics of the M floating around, its the featured ride on FresAlloy.com Garage, been on various blogs HellaFlush, NightImport, etc. There are currently 2 Autech kitted Y34's in USA, mine is the blue one, the other one is silver and owned by a friend of mine. Mine looks like the Nissan Gloria, his is done like the Nissan Cedric, main difference is grille, headlights and taillights

edit: this is my M at this years VIP Festival in San Diego, as you can see, I'm kinda in a dark wheel phase right now....

I would like to have about -2ยบ camber all around, how easy is to get some negative camber on these cars? I've seen camber plates out there, but I'm not sure they fit on the Tokico & H&R or if I even need them for only 2 degrees, and that's only for the front.....

I can live with it like it is, but I think it would look much better with at least a little bit of angle on the wheels.

Welcome to the wonderful world of multi-link rear suspension. Subaru moved away from McPhearson rear suspension ..

So here is the breakdown/history.

BE/BH 00-04 was the first year Subaru tested the multi-link..
BL/BP 05-09 used the same multi-link setup with slight variations to the strut mounts/top hats.
BM/BR 10+ multi-link but i have never seen it up close.

Subaru uses the Legacy as its test mule before the Impreza gets the goods. So a Gen 2 legacy is actually a Gen 1 Legacy with a 02+ Impreza rear end.

Blahh so back to the breakdown.

Fronts can use any 93-01 camber plates. If you use the 02-07 the position will not be dead centre..
Fronts can also use standard subaru camber/eccentrics bolts. You can double up on them but I am sure your no stranger to geometry.

Rears... Multi-Link prevents the use of Camber Plates...
Rears... Whiteline provides a camber adjustment bushing/bolt package
--->http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_detail4.php?part_number=KCA399&sans_vehicle=1
Rears.. MeganRacing and others make adjustable control arms..

Good luck with the evolution!

nice wagon. can you please read the members ride rules and fix your thread. thanks.

LibertyFLS
11-26-2012, 01:49 PM
I did read the rules. What did I miss because I see one of the site Admin's posted a few times on my thread, and he hasn't mentioned anything being the wrong format. I put my name, my car, dates on everything in a list format like it said, etc. so I'm not sure what I did wrong.

Sorry if my thread doesn't follow the blueprint perfectly, I tried though. I'm not going HAM on this car, just a few things to give it some character and make it fun to drive, which are all pretty much done by now anyhow. There will be more little odds / ends in time, and I will be glad to share with the community, but this car is just a 2nd car for me, not my passion.

LibertyFLS
11-27-2012, 06:10 PM
Airgne, hopefully I edited the original post so it's following the format better now.

11/26 factory roof rack cross bars -now to get a bike rack to take my kid BMX racing and take my bike too
11/26 genuine Subaru blue grille emblem - this thing is so dark though, it looks black in most light, but looks really nice in bright light.
11/26 neo-chrome open ended lug nuts

How do u like ur tokico and hnr setup? I am doing it this weekend.

LibertyFLS
11-28-2012, 01:10 PM
I absolutely love it. I am used to very stiff suspensions, so for me it was way too soft out of the box. I don't want this car stiff though, it's just what I'm used to driving, so I have it set on 2 turns from the stiffest setting which is not stiff at all, just firm-ish. I was expecting the adjustments to be "clicks" but it's not, you have to turn it all the way stiff, then back it off in 1 full turn increments and just count your turns (7 from stiffest is the maximum "soft" but it will still keep turning, don't turn it more than 7 turns from stiffest as you could actually keep turning until the adjuster popped out! Bad design IMO, not sure why they don't have it lock at the softest so that can't happen). Doesn't sound very precise compared to systems where you just count the number of clicks. In any event, it rides really nice and was a real pleasure driving up into the mountains last Friday.

Done a bunch of stuff in the past few months, probably not posting it correctly, but anyhow, here goes. I also put a set of blue Sickspeed horns, but don't have pics.

thanks everyone.

No sound clip of the exhaust. It's really deep though and super rumbly.

I really love this car, so over the weekend I will be installing an Eclipse double din NAV with removable TomTom unit, LEDs for the gauges and HVAC (thanks to the excellent writeup on this forum) and a 2007 LGT 3-spoke steering wheel.

Here's a pic of the Sickspeed horns

2/1
decided to take a chance on genuine Subaru OEM "Spec B" floor mats cause they look almost identical in pics. Well, they are almost identical in reality, except as you can see the section between dead pedal and gas opener is smaller and I had to re-locate the anchor about 2" farther forward. Love them, and for $45 shipped, it's a great buy IMO.

installed Eclipse AVN 4430 and all the LED bulbs for dash / hvac. Love this headunit, I definitely dig the fact the screen is a TomTom unit you can take with you and use in any other car. The HU fits like OEM, there is not a millimeter of gap around it, and the texture / matte black looks exactly like the hvac controls.

They sent a USB cable for the iPhone, but it does not work, you need the Eclipse cable to access iPod/phone, so I'm returning the cable and the Metra dash kit (which was free anyhow) for the right one, and when it comes, we're doing the cable, and this steering wheel from a 06/07 gen LGT

Does anyone know how to get the 06 wheel to work on 00-04 as far as the airbags? Obviously the wheel itself fits no problem, but I want a functioning airbag or else I'll sell the wheel on eBay.

That is utter awesomeness that the headunit integrates the TomTom unit as a screen that you can take out.

LibertyFLS
02-20-2013, 02:19 PM
Thanks, this headunit is definitely awesome. I had a Pioneer AVIC in an other car and I loved that, but this is a pretty cool unit. It sounds awesome too, even better than the Alpine it replaced.

No love on the lights huh? I also swapped out the bulb in the gear selector, so every visible light on the dash / hvac / radio / gear selector is either lit up blue, red, or orange. No green lights anywhere. Looks so good at night, and even in the day since I leave my headlights always on.

The only thing I still want to do with this car besides get the steering wheel figured out is get my rear passenger door replaced / repaired, it's got so many dents in it. Then possibly re-spray the car, that's it, done.

Yamazaki
02-20-2013, 03:12 PM
The lights are cool, but do you have a nighttime pic? I will definitely be watching this thread to see if you get the steering wheel figured out. It looks good, and I might like to do that too.....

LibertyFLS
02-20-2013, 03:27 PM
No night shots, but it looks so good, I love it. I turn them all up in the day, and about 3 clicks down at night. I will take a pic this evening for you.

I really hope I get some feedback on the airbag connector, I can't be the first one who's done this wheel swap.

Here are a few pics of the gauges at night. Doesn't really do it justice, but as you can see there are no hot spots on the gauges at all, only thing is the red on the HVAC cold/hot and the red on the gear selector "P" and "N" don't show up very well.

Got a Rallitek 22mm rear sway bar in the mail today.... pics when it's in.

LibertyFLS
03-28-2013, 07:56 PM
I changed my exhaust again cause the other one droned too much for my liking. I changed my muffler out to a Dynomax Super-Turbo and a black-chrome oval tip. I like how it looks, and I love how it sounds. The other muffler really sounded great, deep, thumpy, pretty loud, but I couldn't deal with the drone. This one is barely louder than stock IMO, it's definitely louder and has a nice tone, but the main thing is there is NO drone. Also put a K&N drop-in filter in place. I can't tell any difference, but whatever, wasn't expecting much.

I also decided that between the HTS shocks set to almost full stiff, the H&R springs and the wheels and tires, there isn't much body roll anyhow and the car already handles very well now. For me, it's not like I'm ever going to autocross or rally this thing, so for what I need, the stock sway bar is fine, so I sold the Rallitek bar after looking at it for a month.

Today I went over my buddies body shop and we're going to get the right rear door fixed soon, and this car will be like the average girl who scored and got the extreme makeover. I've put at least 2500 or so into this car since I got it in October. Money I will never get back I know, but money that is well spent IMO.

preparing to make a delivery to Extreme Dimensions (body kit company). 2 custom 10x10 fully printed canopies, and a bunch of flags for them in there.

Looks great! The flat tip compliments the stance nicely.

A resonator in the midpipe would have killed the drone too, but for deliveries you want to be stealth. :D

LibertyFLS
03-29-2013, 01:12 PM
haha, it won't attract the popo's anyhow, modded cars are everywhere down here and this car is pretty tame (my other car is extreme), but thanks. The muffler that came off was way loud, never turned any cops head. Being middle age has it's advantages LOL.

Huffer, I actually installed the biggest resonator behind the stock resonator we could fit, and the drone only got marginally better. That sucker is 18" long I believe. You can see it in this pic with the old muffler

Installed an 05 GT steering wheel with working airbag! Need to purchase the airbag charge from an 05 Impreza to make it work. The 05 GT has a dual stage air bag, but 3rd gen has single stage. 05 Impreza has single stage airbag and is an exact swap with this wheel. Nice upgrade for a total of $170 spent on a nearly new wheel and Impreza airbag.

Painted it black on Saturday (04/02/13). Can't tell in the pic, but I taped around the chrome and so it's just a nice clean line where the black stops and the black-chrome starts on the tip.

Tough crowd on this forum! What does it take to get anyone to actually comment on a build thread? I've done quite a bit of stuff to this car and IMO it's about as nice as any other 3rd gen I've seen on here -although sure I've missed some. The only things left is fix the pass / rear door and re-spray the whole car and it will be like new, but better.

I am not really sure how I have not seen this thread before now.. It is an impressive build so far!

I had commented on your steering wheel thread, and it prompted me to pick up a steering wheel off of a junked 07 impreza with a blown airbag. I just need to source an 05 impreza airbag now ;)

And your idea about the steering wheel is why I took the STi steering wheel from my Impreza and put it in the H6 awhile ago.

Great looking wagon. I have that EZ lip on my BH as well, and for what it is, it looks really good.

Those LEDs look good too, I need to redo mine I think. Everyone else's are a very deep blue and mine are very pale. :smt009

thanks people!

IMO the EZ lip looks like it came on the car and I like things that fit like OEM. On my M45, my Autech body kit is something you can order at Nissan dealers in Japan, so the kit fits like Nissan OEM. On my Q45, the kit I had was just fiberglass and took a good bit of work to fit like it should.

On that note, I'll be in Japan for my annual trip in June so I can't wait to hit Up Garage in search for clear corner tail lights and a new grille. Any other JDM goodies for the Subie I should be on the hunt for? I would like to get the JDM rain visors, I have them on my M45 and coincidentally, my LGT and M both have frame-less doors so the rain visors are 1 piece on both. I have them on the M and love them. Kinda random to end up with 2 cars that both have frame-less doors since it's not exactly the most common thing.

Sounds like a pretty sweet trip! I have JDM HIDs, so that could be a possibility if you're in the market for more goodies. The subtle difference in the lights from the USDM ones makes the front end stand out ever so slightly. Not to mention the light output is top notch.
