Basslink install in a BE suggestions.

I have an Infinity Basslink in the trunk of my BE, and right now it is just floating around. I want to mount it, but I was looking for some input for those who have already done it.

I am torn between trying to mount it to the back of the seat, or drilling into the floor and mounting it vertically.

Have any other members with BEs or really any other sedan for that matter, installed a Basslink in their trunks, and how did you do it? If you had the choice to do it again, would you have done it differently?

Several different ways to attach this unit assuming your unit came with the standard mounting feet.

I can understand the hesitation towards drilling into your floor so you can try this method.

The carpet used to cover the trunk is raised off the floor by a few 1" maybe 2" foam spacers. You can flip the carpet over.. Screw a piece of plywood or mdf to the underside of the carpet. Then flip it back over and screw the unit through the carpet making contact to the plywood base you just installed. The perfect shape the carpet will prevent the unit from sliding around and the sturdy plywood base will act as a clamp that will prevent the carpet from shifting.

I did have that thought as well.. I am kind of leaning in that direction as it would be "easily removable" if I needed the trunk space at some point, as opposed to mounting to the card on the back of the seats. Drilling into the sheet metal is really not a great option especially where I live, because it will rust in no time flat I am sure.

I believe I have both the vertical and horizontal mounting feet.. I will be able to check this evening when I can look in the bin with that hardware, as the original box was thrown out years ago.

If you clean the drilled holes and spray them with any paint and add a bit of surface oil this will prevent rust.

But I would advise against mounting to the back seat.. Its just a paint to service the unit down the line.

You can also be more creative and mount the plywood normally with self tapping screws but you can mount quick disconnect brackets or bolts to quickly remove the unit when space becomes a priority.
