Subaru escapes disaster

So there was a tragic tunnel collapse in Japan yesterday (in Japan time) and nine people died in the incident. However, one car escaped. A WRX STi fled the tunnel as it was collapsing. The driver said as soon as he saw the tunnel start to collapse, he floored it and got out of there, passing everybody else. The car actually got pretty messed up, but he still managed to escape. So there's talk all over the internet of Subaru fans praising the cars attributes (quick, durable). Here's the article:

I always hear Subaru called safe because of its structural integrity, but never the speed. I guess it is an all around great car!

If I were Subaru, I'd be thinking of a new STI ad.

But seriously, I'm glad he got out ok, I'm sure he'll be getting another Subaru down the road.

Thats a pretty cool story of the guy making an escape, but sad for the others that didnt make it.

with the amount of damage to it, it is also a testament to the structural integrity of these vehicles, the passenger compartment is still mostly intact, many lesser vehicles would have just folded and crushed
