Stiffening up my transmission with flex plates?

Not sure if it was on this forum or not but I saw a set of plates that bolt to the outside of the transmission to help with torque flex (not sure what they are called). Looking into ordering it as I am dropping an EJ205 into my 97 LGT wagon 5mt and want the transmission to last as long as possible (its in excellent shape no grinds, solid shifter etc..)

Not sure exactly what you are describing.

Where would you bolt these plates? There are a few different bushings that stiffen up the drivetrain... but nothing that I am aware of that actually bolts to the transmission itself.


There are bushings for the transmission crossmember, new stiffer (Group-N) transmission mount, shifter linkage bushings, and a host or rear end bushings for the differential, diff outrigger, ect.

Sounds like an H-brace that connects the subframe.

No, he is talking about the plates that bolt to the trsnny case and bridge the gaps between the 3 case halves and supposedly help stiffen the case and reduce the hear breakage.. I saw it either here or Legacy central. I have it bookmarked at home but I'm on my phone.

From what I understand of Subaru's 5MTs, the case is about the last thing you really need to worry about.

But I'm not a transmission expert.

Looks like the square bars I used to make a fender brace lol. I'll probably make myself one when I remove my transmission. Only problem is those long bolts :smt017

That's it right there! I plan on beefing up every mount in the car, and adding this.. cant be too careful
