I do understand that the size of this tire is a perfect fit, but I don't know if the rim is a fit. Anyone know what year of outback these are off of? specs on them?

I don't think they're stock subaru. Might be aftermarket that were put onto an outback though.

"As new, paid $1683.00 with taxes, $900.00 "

They ordered rims and tires somewhere. So the wheels are aftermarket and would likely be 5x100 ET48.

If it's off a newer Subaru Outback, it'll be 5x100 and will fit (as long as you know the tire size is correct). They certainly look big enough to clear your brakes, but you haven't provided us with any information on your car either.

Sorry, Its a 97 OBW.

I did find a cheaper set, but the specs show this rim as having a 40mm O/S. Are spacers gonna work here?

I've been wondering, if I go with the '05's suspension, as suggested, what are my options for using oversized springs to maximize the height of my ride?

05s' suspension? What suspension? You won't fit an 05 Legacy/Outback suspension on a 97OBW.

If you're going with 05 Forester suspension, you can get spacers to go on top of the hats to increase lift by .5 - 1" over stock Forester but I don't know of any lift springs.

subtle solutions is one example of where to get those spacers if you're interested.

You can get aftermarket springs to help give you life. King springs is an example of that as well.

forester suspension will also give you a lift itself
