View Full Version : Finally got my 00RS for $400 with 185K miles, EJ253 swapped.

Finally my coworker got his new VW GTI and dumped his junker (he said) to me. Car runs fine but there are much oil at the HG/valve cover area on both sides, radiator leaked at the top, both rear wheel bearings are shot, coil overs make loud noise, and that's it.

Found a RS used radiator locally for $20.
Fix the rear wheel bearings for $300.
Found KYB AGX with Eibach spring set for $300 with 20K on them.
Swap a EJ253 w/100K miles replaced new TB, HG (6 stars,) all cam/crank/main seals, oil pump o-rings, oil separator gasket, clutch kit total $1500 (engine $500+parts $500+ rebuild $500 including removing/install engine and top end rebuild)

Total around $2K+++.

Finally, EJ253 installed with my original EJ251 intake manifold. EJ251 is not for sale.

I got too many Subaru, 95 Legacy, 00 RS STM, 02 WRX WRB, and brand new FRS white. Not including 03 350Z, one driver with 5 cars.

F-it, buy 2 more and have 1 for everyday of the week. I've actually scaled back to only having 3 cars + 1 for the wife haha

That I'm told is over rated and a lot more work then 5 cars! haha
